.........count on it....
I liked the trade.....
as a matter of fact I have liked all of the trades...you have to make moves to get better...you have to build depth for the future....they had absolutely no building blocks in place as of last year....and dumping Snell...no great loss...anda 31 year old short stop...not bad for the return..

Agreed... I've even said that on here.... I liked the McClouth deal.... loved the LaRoche deal (I hated him)... and I like this... We just have to hope they can develop the talent they are getting in return... unlike the Bonifay and Littlefield regimes....

I like the move for the Pirates. It is getting tougher to say that I can name more than 5 members of the Pirates though since they are trading away all their 'name players'.
They are doing a good job of getting value for their name guys, and dumping salary while getting a lot of young talent.

Goose I like the pieces...but I am not certain which guys are what they perceive as core talent... Tabata...Alvarez..........and then? I have to believe after the smoke clears...at the Major level..they purge Indianaoplis....they have nothing there...... BTW how did your brother like playing in the Cape Cod league??

Outside of Bay...what have they really given up....some players are nice "parts"...but not guys you build around..

I agree that Freddie has to be gone before Friday as well. A lot of the guys they've traded have been likeable (with the exception of LaRoche) but not guys that are going to take you to the playoffs. Like the old saying--we finished in last place with you, we can finish in last place without you.

They just traded Sanchez to the Pirates for an very good prospect from the Giants.
The moves continue...

Well there goes Freddie Sanchez--to the Giants. That didn't take long. At least he doesn't have to travel anywhere to join his new team.

A lot of the guys they've traded have been likeable (with the exception of LaRoche) just curious... what makes you say LaRoche isn't likeable... is this from a fans perspective or a teammate perspective... I know that Jason Bay loves LaRoche... in fact, Bay is the one who called LaRoche and let him know that they were going to be teammates again.

Ron Cook said it best in his column today...."It's official Neal Huntington has just completed the dismantling of the worst team in baseball"...pretty poignant.

Fan perspective....without digging the info up it is safe to say this guy has one of the worst batting averages with men on base in the history of the game.....his batting average for the first 3 monthsof the season for his carreer ranks as the worst of all time.......

The Pirates would actually have an okay team if they would have kept all the players they have traded. Not much pitching but a good lineup

I know that I am just saying that they have traded away a lot of good players. They gave Aramis Ramirez up for virtually a bag of baseballs

Gave up Aramis Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, and a Pitcher (whose name I can't remember off the top of my head).... for Bobby Hill! Bobby Fucking Hill!

Actually, goose, the Pirates traded Aramis Ramirez and Kenny Lofton for a pitcher, Matt Brubeck, also Jose Hernandez, and Bobby Hill. Oh what a great deal that was, thank you so very much for that On the other hand, I do not thank you (yet) for giving us John Grabow and Tom Gorzelanny for Kevin Hart, Jose Ascanio, and Josh Harrison. Ugh, I can't believe we gave up Ascanio in this deal..
