for Carlos Gomez. Thoughts? I like Carlos Gomez personally. Good defensively, and very fast. I think his best speed is used a lot more effectively on the turf...but with Cameron getting old I think it is a good move to get a centerfielder. Also (help me BB) they have a solid SS coming up through the ranks, and couldn't afford to pay Hardy and all the other guys as well. Like the trade for the Brewers, but am not sure what the Twins have to replace in CF (what does this mean for Cabrera, moving on I suppose).

Good move for the Twins, the Brewers were obviously selling Hardy cheap. It will be interesting to see what happens to Cameron, he still seems to be a pretty solid outfielder.

Good point with Span MIZ, I just thought of him in RF last year, but they could move him to center without an issue. I think Cameron might be moved, or platoon in RF.

I think Cameron might be moved, or platoon in RF. Cameron is actually a free agent, so they probably will just let him walk. As a 4 WAR player, he could be a solid pickup for some team.

I think the trade is good for both teams. I would've liked it if the Brewers could've picked up another arm(Especially a team from the Twins who are deep in that area), but I think it will allow the Brewers to pick up one in FA with Cameron(6 Million), and Hardy(4 Million) coming off of the books.

I'm not as sold on him as others are. Brewers are probably a decent pitcher or two away from being possibly the best team in the NL Central.

I have heard it a lot from the people who talk about 'up coming players'. It is nice for the Brewers to clear 10 million and not lose too much on the field.

Yeah but the Cards do have 30 million dollars coming off the books and it will be interesting to see how they spend it

Yeah but the Cards do have 30 million dollars coming off the books and it will be interesting to see how they spend it That will be interesting. St. Louis for a smaller market has a great draw of being a great baseball town. Players really seem to love it there. The Brewers managed their money well by letting Cameron walk and Hardy go cause they have a good youngster in the wings. I always expected the Cards to make very crafty moves, but without Jockety it will be interesting to see how they spend it (and hope he brings those types of moves to Cincy). Watch out for my Reds next year. They grow up a little bit, and spend a little bit of money on a hitter or two and they have the pitching to really compete. ;D

Heck, even Teddydupay picked the Reds to win the Central.

I'm sorry to say this but I am starting to think that the Cards made the right move letting Jocketty leave. That Scott Rolen deal just confused me

So what your saying is that the Brewers will trade for Grienke? I had not heard that before. What would they give up?

I'm sorry to say this but I am starting to think that the Cards made the right move letting Jocketty leave. That Scott Rolen deal just confused me I think the crux of that move was to get rid of Edwin Encarnacion (who is bad). Don't sleep on them next year though...

Also BTB, you better hope that those Dominicans don't hurt their arms again or it could be another long season

Also BTB, you better hope that those Dominicans don't hurt their arms again or it could be another long season No shit... They are so talented but they need to stay healthy. Along with Cueto and Volquez they have Harang, Arroyo, and Bailey (a serviceable 5 starter). Their offense for the first time in a while was easily the weakness...like Votto and Bruce to get healthy. They could be solid (I am sure as hell hoping they are).

Harang hasn't been good in three seasons since Dusty Baker pitched him on two days rest in a game in San Diego and sent him down the shitter. Jes sayin Fixed it for ya... Also he began to come back a little last year, I think he returns to the Harang we know this season (especially with some of the pressure off with better starters in the rotation).
