I thought Carpenter would win, maybe the 2 Cards pitchers split votes... but Tim did have an excellent season.

I was hoping he would win.

He wouldn't have been my pick personally...but he is certainly deserving.
I probably would have given it to Wainwright.

Kind of surprising but I don't have a problem with it. If you were giving out the award based on what young arm you'd want to build your staff around then he'd certainly be my vote. I know that's not what it's supposed to be based on, but to me he's the best pitcher in the NL.
IMO he has the most electric stuff in all of MLB.

I think the issue with this vote is that Carpenter would have won the award if two of the voters wouldn't have left him out of the top 3 completely. That is something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth...
Even if both voted him third I am pretty sure that he wins the award (from what I have read).
Tim is a great pitcher and I don't have a problem with him winning.

Funny thing is Wainright should be pissed. He had the most first place votes.

Funny thing is Wainright should be pissed. He had the most first place votes. Yep. The vote so close and I wouldn't have had a problem with any of them winning. But the fact that two people didn't feel Carpenter was even worthy of the top 3 and it cost him the award sort of stuck in my craw...

I never understood why the person who receives the most first place votes does not automatically win the award

I never understood why the person who receives the most first place votes does not automatically win the award That is strange. I tend to agree.
