the Sox are shopping Mike Lowell this offseason. They are willing to pay half of his 12 mill for a year for anyone interested.

Well the Angels, Giants, and Yankees have said they are not going after Holliday and the Mets only have 20 million dollars to spend this offseason so the chances the Cards resign Holliday has increased tremendously

Nobody else other than teams you mentioned that aren't interested is going to offer him more money.

I'll be curious to see what happens to John Lackey... the Mariners may be interested, but my guess is he'll either re-sign with the Angels or go to Boston or New York.

Bravos have to go get a bat or two. Hate to part with starting pitching, but probably only way to make it happen.

I don't think the Dodgers can spend the money... Theo was talking about needing pitching and rumors are flying around about trading Pap for a starter... Haliday or Felix

saw today that people are expecting Holliday to sign before Bay or Lackey... which is shocking to me. I would have expected him to be the last, but maybe he is thinking that the others won't get the money they are looking for. If 6 years is the key for him, I would expect him to sign with the Cards. I know the Sox won't offer him 6 years, and they NEED to sign either him or Bay.

Miguel Cabrera to the Sox... 6 years left on his contract at around $20 million a year. This is being thrown around by talk radio up here like it's a done deal. I don't see the Tigers giving him up... any thoughts.

The Mariners appear to be moving Dustin Ackley to second base, so Jose Lopez is probably on the trade block. He doesn't have much range on defense and his OBP is low, but he did hit 25 HR's last year, so I wonder how much interest there well be in him.

I think they are OK at that position.

Sox are pushing hard for Halliday (which puts Cabrera out of the picture). Sounds like the deal is that you send Bucholtz and Casey Kelly to Toronto for him. They may be saying that you have to take Vernon Wells with him, which would be a huge sticking point on the deal.
Casey Kelly has screwed me once already, he better not find a way to do it again. Casey Kelly would have probably have been the starting QB for the Vols this season.

If you got the Vernon Wells of 3 years ago, that would be a helluva deal that you do tomorrow, but I'm not sure that is the case. Plus he's pretty expensive and then you're going to have to do a long term deal with Halladay.

Wells averages over $22 million a year for the rest of his contract and I think it is 4 years remaining... I don't think Halladay would accept a trade that didn't include a long term deal.

Wells is getting $22M per for the rest of his contract? WTF were the BlueJays thinking? Are you sure he's not due $22M? If it is what you said, that's Manny/Jeter/Howard type money. That's crazy talk .

I knew they resigned him for a big deal, just didn't realize that it was that big. I was thinking $14M-$16M type money.

I actually try to pay attention to both leagues... being in a pretty serious keeper league is really the only reason though... cause when the chips fall, we all know who is going to win the All-Star Game and then the World Series.
Alex Gonzalez signs with the Blue Jays yesterday... that sucks for the Sox as they had a $3 million offer on the table, but the official offer wouldn't come until 10 days from now... in other words, they are trying to sign someone else and were keeping him holding on while they tried to sign someone else.
forgot to add ;D

Sox signed a short stop today...
Marco
Scutaro
the Sox were thinking of moving Pedro over from 2nd to short... but instead they decided to pay Sutaro $5 mill a season for the next two years... probably won't do a damn thing, just like everything else the Sox have tried the past few years. Should have kept Alex.
