Deserves every cent of it. The guy is a solid defender at catcher and a hell of a hitter. It was a move that Minnesota had to make to keep the hometown kid.

I think this is a good move for him and Minny. It's great that the hometown kid can stay at home for the rest of his career, perhaps.
Question is whether this will strap them when trying to make other deals. I think they are resourceful enough in that front office to make the proper moves, but only time will tell.

They couldn't lose the hometown kid, especially as they open the new stadium. I do wonder if they will be able to get pieces around him, but they had to re-sign him. He took a discount because I think he could have gotten 250 million...

Another question...how soon before they switch him to some position other than catcher b/c there is no way he can last the 8 years of this contract catching every day and sustain his offensive firepower.
