we are headed to the playoffs.
We finished in a three way tie for second and the top three teams from district make it to the playoffs, so we had to play it out for 2nd and 3rd. We lost Friday and it looked like our season was over and it would have been if Graham (where Colt McCoy's dad is the football coach and the team that drew the bye) would have won on Saturday, but they lost and had to play us for third place. We gave up 2 in the first but scored three in the bottom half. We extended the lead to 10 - 2 before they stormed back to tie it at 11. We left the bases loaded in the 6th and 7th without scoring a run but we managed to keep them from scoring in the 6th 7th and 8th. After loading the bases once again in the 8th Coach dials up the squeeze play....only the batter is confused about the sign and calls time out. Coach told him the squeeze was on but the other team has to be expecting it now so he took it off. The other team suspected something was up and called for a high fast ball....only it was too high and it soared over the catchers head....we scored the game winning run on a wild pitch.
We now go on to play Lubbock Cooper in the first round...a team that beat us last year in a wild series....both teams return most of the players from last year.

the significance of making the playoffs....the school has played baseball since 1987, the last time they did not make the playoffs.....1987....this could have been only the second team in the school's history to not make the playoffs.

quick update....
we won the first series two games to none and are moving on.
We are playing in Midland today in hopes that we can play without any weather issues....but it is pouring as I type so it does not look promising.....we may end up playing in El Paso.
We will also be without our ace who will be competing in the State Track Meet. He should win the Mile and 2 Mile.

We ended up playing in Van Horn, Tx which was about a 6 hour drive. We won both games 10-7 and 9-0 without our ace (who won both mile and 2 mile at the state track meet).
We now meet up with Brownwood....the team that won our district. We split the two games this year, but I think we have a pitching advantage in a three game series.
