NY to Lee. I don't doubt it will happen. They need him just so they don't have to face him

actually... IrishNY is right... that 5 years 140 is from the Sox and you know what, the way Lee has pitched against the Yankees, If I were in the Sox front office, I would go after him with a venegance...5 years $140 million is pretty fierce

I don't see Cliff Lee as a guy who needs to pitch in a big market. I am going to predict he stays with the Rangers

That is a nice little offer. 28 mil per is a huge price tag, but his postseason performance is at the legendary level.
I don't think it is assured that he goes to either the Yankees or the Sox. I think he is just as likely to stay in Texas, or possibly move to somewhere else that isn't the largest market.

Lee is going to go where the money is. I really find it hard to believe that Yanks get out bid by anybody on this one. This may be the most coveted free agent in recent history for the Yanks.
Really can't afford to let the Saux get 'em.

I don't disagree with you. I agree here..Even if Lee wanted to stay with the Rangers, there will be a lot of outside pressure to take the money..

Tex is a dime a dozen power guy that is good but not going to carry a team that Yanks highly overpaid for. Not like he's Pujols or hell even Ryan Howard, so yeah, Lee is much more important to the Yanks. If the Saux were to get Lee, they Yanks could kiss any chance of winning a division or pennant good bye for a while.

While I would agree that Lee is the more valuable piece, and will likely get a huge deal (whether it be in NY, LA, BOS, TX, etc) I think it is also important when talking about Teixeria to remember that he is one of the best defensive first basemen in the league.
Tex saves a lot of errors for his infielders and does a very nice job playing 1st.
I'll Lee all day though...

His defense still isn't enough that if he weren't on that team that they would win any less games in the reg season or post season. Literally, Tex could leave the Yanks tomorrow and be replaced by say Carlos Pena and there would literally be no noticeable difference in outcomes for the Yanks.
