Dang.... how about that for a non-conference sked in 1993?!!?! Nebraska, UGA, NC State..... Then played OU in the bowl..... You are right, Bam played 11 games in the regular season for 1752 yards.... Walker played same in regular season in '82... i was born in '82 FTR so no, i never saw him play If TTU had finished better than 6-5 that year, Bam would have won the heisman too i am sure. Walker was THE man. Hell, he has almost as many rushing TDs as Tim Tebow.

Only Winston has harmed Winston. The media helped but he started it by his actions.

I'm not sure I'll explain this very well so bare with me.
I think Winston is an idiot -
I think in my enjoyment of CFB for over 55+ years their have been worse idiots but VERY few of them got the publicity that Winston did and HE should have known better as he wasn't born in 1949.
Does any CFB player think he can get away with anything - if they do they are idiots.

Don't forget the idiot from tOSU - equally numb. Claret... The good news is, he actually has turned his life around and is helping kids. Speaks to kids about his mistakes.

He speaks at local high schools about how bad his decisions were and how much he regrets those decisions. Interesting to hear him speak at my school several weeks ago. The kids seemed to respond.

I would say in terms of his off field behavior and attitude he could be seen as an embarrassment because of the bad publicity he created for the school. Of course he was so successful on the field it helps some of the off field embarrassment.
There are plenty of guys who were good football players and bad humans. Plenty of guys I was happy to have on my favorite team in terms of talent but embarrassed to have in terms of people.
That's what makes a guy like Tebow, Aaron Murray, Archie Griffin, etc all the more special to fans.

Thanks, Brad. So helpful. The one thing Arron did do right was charity. That's it.

Lovie Smith, Winston's new coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired back Wednesday, disagreeing with Bowden's statement. "I'm disappointed. To say that the young man is an 'embarrassment?' That's pretty strong. I just don't think he's speaking for all of Florida State, even though he's in an official role there. Normally, what we're doing today with our greats you (embrace) them. Everybody on the outside may be throwing stones at them. Normally, when you're in a family you don't do that. I'm very disappointed that somebody like that would make that type of statement.' "We do not see (Winston) as an embarrassment by any means. He meant an awful lot to Florida State. I would never say that. The essential people at Florida State we talked to and no one said (Winston) was an embarrassment. It was the complete opposite starting with Jimbo Fisher, their current football coach. That's why I say I can't believe it." -- NFL Reporter Rick Stroud Well, screw Bobby for telling the truth. Dayum. The man said that "at times" Winston was an embarrassment to FSU. Indeed, at times he was.

I agree. His comments weren't relayed within context. I totally agree with Coach Bowden's opinion ... when the full context is applied. Good call, Tony. That's going to come back to bite you... 2 years from now he will try to use this post as evidence that he is smart.

There is a huge difference between being accused and being convicted - UNLESS we are talking about the court of public opinion.....

Seems like a shit load of money for a case that "didn't have enough evidense to bare charges..."

ya know.... i kinda see a new motive for FSU from the beginning of this to keep it hush hush and influence the investigation into Winston's case from Day 1...
I mean, the trend is that schools are having to pay millions to rape victims... seems like they would want to keep it quite..
Baylor just settled with their victim for an "undisclosed amount".....

The accuser gets $250,000. Her lawyers get $700,000. She aught to sue her lawyers, they raped her worse than Winston (allegedly) did.
