Rivals has an excellent breakdown of what worked for OSU and ND when they beat Clemson last year. Too many great videos to try and post it here, so you will have to click through. It's interesting that Clemson returns almost everyone from last year. Great defense with even more experience. OSU used motion and quick snaps to catch Clemson adjusting at the last second. A lot of their big plays were when the DL wasn't set. I'm sure Venable has a plan for that. Still think the most important thing for UGA will be the TEs. It's where they can create mismatches. The play where OSU had two TEs motion and setup with one on the line of scrimmage and the other TE a bit off the line is exactly what UGA can do.

He's going to have a big year. He’s still raw as he didn’t play until junior year. Hell contribute but Ngata, Ross, Ladson, and Williams will be ahead of him if healthy but the reviews of him are good He may be the best athlete at the position and he’s up to 225 pounds. I could see them using him in slot like they did Jordan Leggett. Hybrid TE/Slot Mismatch hell. Ngata apparently had a case of the drops in practice one. He doesn’t fix that and Ajou may get more snaps that expected

Clemson needs to use more motion to help OL and create numbers advantages. They used to and have stopped. Motion used to be merely eye candy. But now it’s used to get match ups you want. Kansas City Chiefs do it better than anyone Apparently they studied that offense for this season because of how similar Mahomes and DJU play With their baseball background they both have ability to make all throws from multiple release points without losing accuracy or velocity. Be interesting to see what it looks like Also Shipley getting a lot of reps with the ones along with Dixon and Pace

I think Shipley is really important because he gives Clemson a running threat UGA has to respect. I suspect Kirby is hoping to let the DL and a LB handle the runs between the tackles and deploy the remaining defenders to contain the outside and passing game. Shipley is good enough to force Kirby to keep more people in the box.
I still think both offenses want to get the opposing D with 6 DBs on the field.

Pace is legit…Spiller compared him to Nick Chubb in spring practice. I think Shipley and Pace surpass Dixon and become top 2 snap getters and that says a lot because year before last when Dixon wasn’t battling a hamstring issue like last year he was solid. Think he averaged right at 7 a carry. He’s not a bad RB. But Clemson’s offense is more about throwing the football They are healthy at WR and their TE room is legit as well. OSU and Clemson have the two best WR rooms in the country. OSU may rank ahead headed into the season but Clemson’s is deeper Steletto is apparently turning heads as well at slot.

Scott Cochran is no longer the special teams coordinator. Supposedly he is stepping aside for personal reasons. I dunno.
Merritt, looks like your old friend is ready to jump in as an on field assistant!

I was wrong. I did say we were lucky to have Agent Muschamp when he was "coaching" the Gators.

Kirby indicating that it is personal issues related to health/mental health. He is also hinting that this is temporary. We shall see.

I didn't think I would ever say this, but we're lucky to have Muschamp. I would imagine this is an upgrade honestly…Cochran was a promoted S&C guy so even though I think Muschamp is a horrible coach…in a limited role I would say he’s an upgrade as a special teams guy

Special teams were really good last year, but I think it might have been because Kirby hired an off field analyst/coach who specialized in special teams. Cochran appeared to know very little about special teams.

Merritt- How will Venables deal with Arik Gilbert? Seems to me he is the guy that Clemson has to be careful about a coverage mismatch. CBs can handle the WRs and an athletic LB or DE will be on Washington. But how does he handle Gilbert?

I think they have to put a guy big enough to handle him if he's blocking for a RB, but they also have to have a guy athletic enough to cover him for 5-15 yards. After that the safety better be there to help.

I heard a rumor that there is a rumor that Clempson's LB & DE cover better than their CB. They are not just good, they are realllllly good.

He's going to have a big year. You might have nailed this one…Ajou is showing out every practice and really pushing Ngata for the starting nod Right now only Ross has solidified his spot. Ngata, Ladson, Williams, and Ajou all battling for spots in the starting line up Will be interesting to see who trots out in week 1
