So the wife and I went to McKinney, TX for a wedding this weekend. Flew into Dallas a night early so that we could go south to Waco. Of course this was to see all things Magnolia built by Chip and Joanna Gaines.
HOWEVER, on the way out of town, I was like, hmmmm we have a little time, why not visit the Branch Davidian Compound that was run by David Koresh.
Drove out there, gates were open so I pulled around back by the Church. It was hard to tell what was what as I was thinking maybe I can see where all this went down. A nice lady drove up, asked me if I needed anything and I explained that I was just looking around and had no point of reference. Well, she said, where we are now is right where the building used to be. Eerie. She invited me into the church. I looked around took some pictures and talked with her for about 15 minutes. She was NOT a fan of Bill Clinton, that much I can assure you.
She supposedly is one of 10 remaining members of the church. They have plenty of visitors, especially since the WACO series was on Netflix. She clued me into another series that is now on Amazon Prime, called Madman or Messiah.
Has anyone else ever visited there? I was 13 in 1993 when 'the siege' took place, so I can remember the TV coverage, but never knew the facts of the story. I would be interested in getting anyone's perspective on those events since most of us are older and remember it well.
I did stand on a concrete pad and she said well, this is where the vault was, this is where the women and children were hiding when they started pushing a tank into the building and they gassed us and they all died. I think the figures are 81 members died that day, 23 of which were children.
I am on a work computer so photobucket doesn't allow me to upload and post pics but I have some if anyone can clue me in on any other way to put pics on here. Most of the time on other posts people post pics they do not show up for me anyways.
