Left Atlanta early this morning. Layover in Minneapolis and then on to Spokane. After waiting an hour plus to get our rental Tahoe, it was off on a beautiful but somewhat smoky drive to Eureka, Montana. Pulled up to our house and we were greeted by Yogi's son.

Nice! Remember to look up at night and see why they call it Big Sky Country. Have me smiling knowing you are out there enjoying and getting to play with bears. Does he belong to the house you are staying at, Bob?

Nah, not according to the lady managing the place. Apparently the previous renters had ordered some food and it arrived late. He had not reached the lettuce, celery and carrots when we got there. He did not want to leave.
Real smoky yesterday and we are expecting rain and storms tonight. From tomorrow on, cool days and cooler nights. Hopefully it will clear out the smoke and haze.
Drove along Lake Koocanusa from Libby to Eureka. It is 91 miles long, half in Canada and half in Montana. Built in 1971 by Canada and the US. Reminded me of the Norwegian fjords except water was calmer. Couldn't get pictures, but will try on our way back to Spokane next Thursday. We assumed name was an Indian name, but actually stands for the Kokanee Salmon and CAN for our friends to the north and USA for the guys to the south. Hopefully will get better look during daylight heading out of here on Thursday.

Was that an eagle or osprey nest?

I think you are right. Saw some similar today and they were definitely osprey.

Did you see any mountain goats in Glacier Nat Park? We were lucky enough to see one during our visit.

Not today, but there was a grizzly fight near the Saint Mary entrance. Forest Rangers had area blocked off. Hope to see goats or sheep tomorrow.

I've always wanted to visit the Rocky Mountain states as well as the Pacific Northwest and Canadian Northwest and these pictures make we want to do it even more!

Went up to the Many Glaciers area of the park. Did a relatively short hike up to Red Rock Falls. Saw a big ass grizzly way up on the mountain. Looks like a black dot on my camera but he was a big one looking through the binos. On the home, saw two Mountain Goats grazing way up on the side of one of the peaks. My sister got a pretty good shot of one of them. Pictures later..my ass is draggin right now.

Awesome pics.
There is about a week every year when Going to the Sun Road is plowed, but not yet open to cars. Bikes, however, are allowed. Long been on my list.

Another spectacular day in Glacier National Park. Today made the long run up to Many Glaciers in the northeast corner of the Park. Took a hike up to Red Rock Falls. Two Medicine Lake outside eastern boundary of Park. Looking at the Park from the eastern boundary. Many Glaciers entry on Eastern side, just south of Canadian border. Swiftcurrent Lake on our hike up to Red Rock Falls. Swiftcurrent Lake. Red Rock Falls. Relatively small trickle compared to many I have seen, particularly in Norway. But, the walk up there was awesome. Lake Sherburne at east entry point. Those two white dots in the upper middle of the picture are mountain goats. My sister took a pretty good shot on her zoom lens which I hope to post later. Lake McDonald on the western entry to the park nearing sunset.

Yeah, has been pretty cool. First time to Glacier National Park and it is spectacular for sure. A hiking wonder world for younger folks. Lots of traffic though, which I guess is a challenge for all the parks these days.

Wow, that was really close. Unfortunately ours were long way away. Today by the Amtrak station in Belton at the West Glacier entry, we all saw a pretty hefty black bear cross the tracks and then cross the road. We just missed getting a picture. Pissed me off as I had left my cell phone in the SUV. Great picture of the goat. Truly a fantastic area of the country.

A real close up of a Bison Buffalo. This was at Yellowstone also in 2012 before we traveled to Glacier and a lot of other places in the Northwest. It was a 25 day trip to the Northwest. My wife could have stuck her head out of the car and kissed the buffalo. Traffic was stopped and this buffalo walked right by our car on the side of the road.
