ESPN yesterday had A&M omitted from AP poll. I guess their proof readers are collecting checks ar home.

After Saturday, I don’t know if Bama is worse than expected, if UF is better than expected, or some combination of both.
What I don’t like is all the pundits and some of the Gator fans excited that the loss was better than expected.
I sure hope the team doesn’t feel that way, because their play (especially first quarter) and stupid mistakes (especially flubbing a kick off and causing the ball to go out on the 1 yard line) caused them to lose the game.

For those who don't believe A&M deserved their rankings - they are still winning. And that is usually what counts.
A couple of more weeks and the teams will start showing their true colors - as is the case normally each year.

A couple of more weeks and the teams will start showing their true colors - as is the case normally each year. This logic makes Zero sense to me. Going by your logic, Kansas State, BYU, Mich State, Notre Dame, & Ok State should all be ranked ahead of aTm as they all have better SOS so far and are 3-0 (ie: still winning). I would even add Ole Miss & Wyoming who are both 3-0 and only slightly worse SOS. Of course, if winning is what usually counts.

But IMO that is how the voting goes. If a team is ranked high coming into the season - they remain high until they lose. And sometimes even then a early loss to what is perceived as a good team - the losing team does not fall so far in the rankings.
SOS and perception don't always goes hand in hand. Time is the one factor that works out the majority of time.

And good job on posting the AP and Coaches polls. I was going to do it yesterday and I had edited about a third of the AP poll and quit. It was too much work. Couldn't find a site that didn't require a lot of editing to get it clean in order to post.
Thanks for your effort each week.

Agreed, but I think most fans, and critics, just think the Gators might just be a bit better than most people thought they would be. The Gators showed, despite a terrible 1st quarter, that they could compete with Bama. The Gators showed that, despite a few bone-headed, stupid plays, they could compete with Bama. However, the Gators could have kicked Bama's ass if they had not executed so poorly on a few plays. Nonetheless, as a life-long Gator that has seen the good times AND the bad times of Gator football, I can only say that I am proud of our performance in that game, but there are things that we still need to improve upon.

The season has just started. The rankings will continue to adjust to reality.

I think it is both. This is what you get to see when good teams finally play other good teams. Moreso, when the 'better' team is on the road.
