Strider is either awesome or awful. There does not seem to be a middle ground. I think he relies too much on 2 pitches, but I would defer to someone who is smarter on this stuff than me.

The guy looked in hit table the first couple of innings. He was hitting 100mph on fastballs that were located perfectly. Then would get swinging strikes on sliders that ended up being 2 feet off the plate. He really does have good stuff.
It was almost like when the rookie catcher got a double—the other rookies were like—hey we can hit this guy. Even though the Pirates stranded Endy at second after the double, it seemed to get the other guys excited. And when you have 5 rookies in the lineup, they’re a lot of streakiness. Both good and bad. Luckily the Pirates managed to put together a big inning and held on for dear life.
I’m heading down to tonight’s game. They had called for rain today, but I’m happy that is no longer the case. Gonna hit the Oyster bar for happy hour, then over to PNC.

I think you're right. I think as his career goes on, he'll need to have a 3rd or 4th pitch he can throw to at the very least keep hitters honest.

Braves were very lucky tonight to come back and edge Pirates. Starting pitching continues to be a problem.

Entertaining game. Bednar started the season being lights out as a closer. More recently, every save opportunity he’s had has been an adventure. He blew a save Saturday, and another tonight. The walks are killing him, but beyond that, he’s pitching from behind in the count too often. Not sure if hitters are learning to be more patient with him, or if he is not throwing as well as he did earlier in the season. In any event, Braves got the win. And it’s rough that despite 4 home runs by a home run deficient team, they still found a way to blow it.

Braves starting pitching continues to be a real issue. Ever since Fried's shutout of the Cubs at the beginning of this road trip, they have gone 6 straight games where the starting pitching has been less than mediocre. Bullpen getting worn out, although they have done good job. Right now being saved by the prolific hitting of this club. Has to get fixed or their playoff run will be very short.

I got to witness Bucs get the split today. It was a really good series, every game was a nail biter. Granted, the Braves are just kinda coasting with a 10 game division lead and pretty much already clinched a playoff spot. But it was fun to see a lineup with 5 or 6 rookies compete with the Braves crew of all stars.

Leave it to the New York Mets to cure the Braves pitching problems. What an awful baseball team. Couldn't happen to a better franchise. L A R R Y L A R R Y

21-3. Mets kicked field goal in last of the 8th to end their scoreless streak. Yikes.

This thing the Braves have been doing with the ball players in the booth is great. Chipper, Glavs, Smoltzy and Frenchy are hilarious. I wish Francoeur would shut up more but it is great hearing the other 3. Now they are joined by Maddux and McGriff. Wouldn't be great every night but once in a while is really cool.

Nice to see the Braves clinch the pennant on Philly's field, especially with Thompson's sour attitude towards the Braves/Acuna...

Nice to win the division, but going to have to face those guys again in few weeks and they scare me. Braves pitching still a bit shakey due to all of the injuries. Fried is great, but Strider is either elite or awful...never know who you are going to get. Morton is experienced but also 40. Bullpen, ditto. Iglesias has blown two straight and ironically gotten two wins because of the Braves hitters in extras.

Hopefully he rights the ship before the playoffs. And agree, recent series notwithstanding, Phillies are dangerous.

Max Fried is now on the IL and will not be available until first round at the earliest. Blister issues. Now Charlie Morton pulled after 1 inning for finger issue. They may have the best record in MLB for right now, but this pitching staff is a catastrophe right now.
