If you want to know why it will be next to impossible for SEC to go to 9 game schedule, look no further than the Blue Grass State. Kentucky goes 3-5 in conference and 4-0 in non conference games. Even had the Cats lost to Louisville, they were bowl bound. It will take 10 votes to change it to 9. A bunch of other mid to low level SEC programs supported remaining at 8.
Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mizzou and Texas A&M voted for 9. Bama waivered after long supporting 9, probably because their 3 rivals would have been LSU, Tennessee and Auburn. I understand that, but we are headed to no more Third Saturday in October and Deep South's Oldest Rivalry because of it.
I hope, that if it stays at 8 games, at least the conference will up their requirement from 1 to 2 out of conference Power 5 opponents.

You can play Memephis, GA st, chattanooga, and FAU and get to a bowl with just 2 conference wins. but i hope like hell the committees start to blast them. Everyone else playing 10 P5 games or 11 in some cases and SEC playing 8 or 9..... and like this year, its not the hands down "best conference"... (Bait)..... but still how can you only play 8 of 15 teams a year and hardly ever get to all of them? you need to do 9 just to get a steady rotation.....

I would love to see 9 conf games and 3 OOC Power 5 games. Have every school in P5 conf put 3mil per year into a pot and distribute those funds equally across all FCS schools.

Yep and some like it. Others don't and because of it are scheduling 2 and even 3 power 5 non conference games. Florida had Utah and FSU this year. South Carolina had N. Carolina and Clemson this year. Georgia was supposed to play at OU and Ga Tech this year. LSU has USC and UCLA next year. Bama, Florida and Georgia are headed into multiple years of 10 and 11 game OOC Power 5 games and almost all of these are home and home.
Some don't...the Kentuckys of the world, except for their annual game with Louisville. But nobody is playing a schedule like you quoted. All teams are playing at least one Power 5 team. I want to play a 9 game conference schedule. Maybe it will come to pass in 2025.

So, please excuse the snark, but welcome to what some posters have been telling you since the CBS days. Playing only 8 IC games is a huge advantage.

I can forgive the snark, but when have I ever said that I prefer 8 game schedule over cupcake weekend? The only time I have even hinted at preferring 8 is with Georgia's upcoming non conference opponents and even then, it is only because of the damn WLOCP being at a neutral site. Not sure how Georgia is going to be able to play those scheduled opponents home and home when we would wind up with less than 6 home games. Others might not feel that way, but I have never liked playing more than one cream puff....FCS or Group of 5. If we go to 9, no way Georgia can still play 3 power 5 non conference games a year unless we move the Georgia-Florida game to home and home.
