Oh, I know we will still hear it on Big Ten games. Won't be the same. And despite the fact that Gary can be annoying at times and tends to repeat narratives too often, Brad Nesler is my favorite. I think the CBS production is by far the best on Saturdays without all the show time BS from ESPN and FOX. Hoping they bring Vern back for a last hurrah.

I tend to agree. CBS coverage/production is typically done very well.
Fox on the other hand, is bad IMO, and dont get me started on the Drama Queen Gus Johnson.

I actually like the ABC/ESPN team of Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit the best. Gary needs to be retired based on the fact that he can't remember and pronounce the simplest names, much less the complicated names during a game.
FOX is like watching a wrestling telecast now, to much yelling and to much Chris Berman influence of cutsie nicknames.

I like Herby, but Fowler to me is a duplicate of Johnson. JMO, Brad Nesler is in a class by himself these days and best since Keith left. Would love Nesler and Blackledge.

I must have heard that tune a million times over the years. College football games on TV has really changed over the years.
Back when college football games started appearing on TV - there was only one game per week - called the game of the week. In black and white - before color TV. Man a lot has happened in college football since those days. Heck, a lot has happened in the world. Been a long trip for me - but enjoyed every minute of it.

I love Gus Johnson, though I feel he's a better fit for college basketball coverage in my opinion.
Always been a fan of Brad Nessler as well. Maybe partially because hearing his voice brings back memories of the NCAA football video games

Love how you SEC guys try to claim that intro song, though it existed before CBS had a deal with the SEC. It was used for their game of the week, regardless of conference. Oh and the first time the song was used…….gasp…….. for their Super Bowl coverage in 1987.
Your hubris knows no bounds. 😉🤪

Yeah, they have used it for all their games. Army Navy has the same theme. But the overwhelming number of games CBS has broadcasted over the years have been SEC games. But yep, others have used it too. Get ready for the B1G on CBS...Rutgers and Indiana with Gary and Brad in the booth.

Well given the new conference that could be Washington V PSU or USC v Wisconsin.
Far cry from v Rutgers.

Rick Neuheisel made a comment about this last SEC season on CBS. He was praising the production, which many agree is the best in the business. He also brought up something I really had not thought about.
When ESPN finishes a game they are immediately off to the next game. There would be no scenes like the Vol fans taking down the goal posts against Bama last year. Or the stunning Auburn celebration after the Kick Six or LSU celebrating the Brian Kelly going for two last year in Baton Rouge. The Georgia reaction after the Hobnail Boot and the Vol reaction after the Dobbs Hail Mary. The mob scene after the Milroe Miracle. All of those will be pushed to the side because ESPN will be off to their next game. And that is in some ways, the heart of college football.

ESPN doesn't seem to be into some of the historical events - their concern is about dollars. IMO.

I can remember ESPN in their earlier days of broadcasting. I was real excited because TV didn't have a lot of coverage on sporting events. ABC with their Wide World of Sports brought us sporting events early on and it was great for fans starved for sporting events on TV.
And "Jim McKay : Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sports... the thrill of victory... and the agony of defeat... the human drama of athletic competition... This is "ABC's Wide World of Sports!""
Jim McKay was one of the greatest announcers ever IMO.

Lundquist, who retired from the SEC broadcast in 2016, remains a loyal viewer every fall afternoon.
“First of all, I love the SEC,” Lundquist said in a recent interview with AL.com “It’s the greatest assignment I was ever given in my life.”
He won’t be watching Saturday, Lundquist said, because he was invited to attend the final SEC on CBS broadcast in Atlanta.
“I can’t wait,” Lundquist said.

I get that the easy narrative is to oppose anything ESPn even though they completely revolutionized sports and brought it to our living rooms at scale like no one else did and made a successful business out of it in doing so. As for Neuheisal’s take, it’s not accurate. They usually pan out and get a stadium view before going to the sideline reporter to grab the coach or players of the game. While doing so they often catch some of the reaction going on around them. Neuheisal is a class A douche canoe.

Of course he is. But even a monkey and a typewriter.... Did they just exit the game last night as soon as the final second ticked off the clock? Playoff game. No game followed. It is a world of difference when you have another game, that oh by the way, has fans sitting in the stadium waiting while be told that it will be another 5 minutes before kickoff. But more often than not, after a quick 2 question interview with the coach and 2 more quick questions they are off to Chapel Hill for the next game. Now honestly, most of the time, it is not a big deal. But it does happen with big games when you have another one on its heels. Goodness, didn't make that statement to cause any uproar. Just, when you are basically focused on one game each week, you can linger. When your plate is full, not so easy to do. Certainly not a big deal in the overall picture. CBS, FOX and NBC will broadcast the B1G and ND. ESPN will have SEC, ACC and I guess they are still splitting the Big XII with FOX. Even with all the changes, I expect it will still be great. Some huge SEC-B1G games next year...Texas-Michigan; Bama-Wisconsin; LSU-USC and LSU-UCLA. College football will be ok.

What ticks me off about ESPN or at least one of the things. One is recording a game and when you start watching it - it is the tail end of another game. So you miss 15 to 20 minutes of the recorded game. I almost always record a game and start watching about 40 minutes into the game. Using the fast forward button, one can usually make it to into the third quarter before having to watch a TV commercial. Great feeling.
