Will Rogers, Who transferred from Ms State to UDub a couple of weeks ago, has no transferred from UDub to the Gumps.
If this dude it in and Milroe out, that's a net gain for those playing the Gumps in 2024. Roh Tahd!

This probably has flaws too, but at least the issue is being looked at:
Brooks Tilley @brookstilley · Follow Kirby had a great idea on @929thegame
Give kids out of high school 2 options
1. Sign with school & opt for 1yr deal. Can transfer after 1yr but school can also cut your scholarship
2. Sign with school & commit to 2-3yrs where spot is saved but you can’t transfer those yrs

Caleb Downs, the Gump Frosh AA Safety has entered the portal.
Maybe the best player to enter since the Portal started. His rating is not based on projection, kid was crazy good as a freshman starter for the Gumps.
Looks like UGA will get another late Critmas gift.

Kirby was raving about him after the SECCG. And you're right, that guy is ready to roll. Geez, Georgia might have 2 All-American safeties playing together if so. And a potential All SEC corner.

Proctor is predicted to return to Iowa where he is from.
Looks like, so far, 23 players have entered the Portal from Gumpland

I wonder if Kirby knew something or maybe suspected something with his chats with Nick before and after SEC Championship game. Smart went out of his way to track Downs down to congratulate him on the win. He had recruited the kid pretty hard.

The funny thing is if you watch that video T-Rob comes over and talks to Kirby while Downs is talking to Kirby.

For those that were naïve to think Bama will continue to recruit itself, go look at the current Gump class of 2025.
Commitments and Ranking Fallin' like the water at Niagara.

After my first day of work today in over a month, and only two days total in November and December, Print Da Shirts might be able to afford some ink. Already seeing an influx of orders! 🙂

Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide are having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day on Wednesday.
It all started when starting safety Caleb Downs and starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor reportedly took their talents to the transfer portal. Both earned significant honors this season while playing on a College Football Playoff team.
Unfortunately, that wasn't all. Five-star edge rusher Zion Grady also decided it was time to decommit from the Crimson Tide football program following Nick Saban's abrupt retirement.
The losses following Saban's retirement have kicked off questions about the transfer portal. Recruiting analyst Josh Newberg suggested the transfer portal needs to be fixed given the unfair impact Saban's retirement had on the program.
"Transfer portal needs to be fixed," he said. "This situation with Alabama will cause change. Bama is penalized b/c they made the playoffs and Nick Saban retired afterward. The last team to make a change gets shafted in the portal. There's simply no players left in the portal to recruit. Top available players are the ones hitting the portal FROM Alabama. If Saban retired on Dec. 1 this wouldn't be happening. Needs to be fixed."
He later clarified his comments for those suggesting he was just concerned because Alabama is the program in question.
"You guys are getting too caught up with 'Alabama'… if Harbaugh takes an NFL job tomorrow, Michigan is in the same situation," he added. "Their players are leaving and the transfer portal will be empty, besides Michigan players. The current system needs fixing."
Does the transfer portal need fixing?

Damned Catch 22. I get his point. If you change coaches after the window closes, your players still get 30 days to find a place, but the pickings are slim. Seeing the snowball effect with Washington and Arizona as well and maybe Michigan yet to come. If they quit before the bowl everyone bitches. If they quit after the bowl, everyone bitches. What to do?
On the other hand, it has been going on for 3 years now. No one raised a stink when Tennessee lost everyone when Pruitt got fired. Ditto for LSU when it got rid of Coach O. It is not a good situation, but it also is not Alabama centric.

Harbaugh interviewed today. Can't fathom him taking that job with Blank as owner. But even if he wins a Super Bowl, he will always be second fiddle to the guy in Athens. And Smart ain't going nowhere.

It is not a good situation, but it also is not Alabama centric. It sounds bad today, but two to three years from now - the situation will be entirely different. Time cures most problems. And when a team has the best coach in college football - when and if they leave - it will impact the team. But think of the 17 years before he retired. I sure wish he would have stayed at LSU. LSU would probably have a few more NC trophies. It is time for the Bama fans to suffer some down years - it might be awhile until the next NC. Just think one more stop against Michigan and they might have had another NC. Poor Bama babies.

IF, big if, but still, IF Harbaugh goes to the NFL, it appears that Brian Kelly is at least one of the candidates for successor. Michigan could go into the portal feeding frenzy followed by LSU. And then, whoever LSU would get would cause that school to do the same. I don't feel sorry for anyone right now, because we have been hurt by the portal too, but it does not take a genius to figure out something does have to be done to control this chaos.

I know the rumor is Kelly to Michigan. I just dont see it for a few reasons 1) Saban is gone 2) Alabama is in disarray 3) Kelly has just put together a very, very good defensive staff 4) His 2024 recruiting class is solid top 10 class (signed 11 of the top 12 in state recruits) 5) He has a chance to have a top 1-3 class in 2025 (already has 5 of the top 10 committed and the other 5 have crystal balls to LSU, 2x5* and 8x4*), also has the #1RB from Louisiana, #1QB from Michigan, & #1WR from Texas. All #1s overall at their respective positions 6) The State of Louisiana is absolutely loaded for the class of 2026 3 x 5* with 3 of the top 6 and 6 of the top 60 in state. Rankings are still early for 2026 but all indications are the state is loaded. 7) He has locked down the State Just dont see it.
