There's a scenario in play where Florida State finishes this season as the only undefeated Power 5 team in college football.
Speaking to reporters Thursday morning, Florida State quarterback Brock Glenn said the Seminoles should "absolutely" be considered national champions if they're the last undefeated team standing.
Florida State linebacker Kalen DeLoach also believes the team should be crowned champions in this scenario.
"It's only right," DeLoach said. "Nothing else needs to be said if we're the only undefeated team."
After seeing those comments, it's safe to assume that Florida State wants to make a statement in the Orange Bowl.
"The Orange Bowl is an awesome bowl, one of the best in the country, and we have a great opportunity in front of us playing Georgia," Glenn said. "It's still a big game for us, and we're taking it serious. We're focused on the guys we have here to help us win the game."
Kickoff for the Orange Bowl is at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Would not be unprecedented. If FSU beats Georgia and both Michigan and Washington are defeated, one Power 5 team would be left unbeaten. AP chose USC as National Champion in 2003 over LSU even thought the Tigers beat the top ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the final.

Except for the fact that FSU have a lot of opt outs of key players. Hard for them to make that statement.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bama wins it all. Bama has a way of showing up for the big games. Saban has some sort of magic wane he waves and Bama goes insane and wins.
Maybe it is some sort of Kool Aide that they drink.

Now, it might be hard for them to win the game, but if they do, the fact that they beat a team that Bama only beat by 3 points would be pretty strong argument. All depends on UW and the cheaters losing and of course FSU winning despite being 19 point dog.

IMO, the Dawgs are a 99.99 chance of winning - so that makes FSU chances .01%
Just saying that I don't think FSU has much of a chance of winning.
Good chatter though.

CFB, the only sport where there’s no point in actually playing the games on the field. Just play them on paper using armchair fans opinions.

Kirk Herbstreit told us all year that it is the 4 best teams. He told us Oregon was better than Washington. He told us that Ohio State was better than Michigan. Gots to play the games. FSU beating Georgia would be an upset. It is hardly impossible.

WTF? When did this board turn into fantasyland? Does anyone really think FSU has a chance of beating UGA? Useless conversation, IMO. Nonetheless, I would love to see it happen, but I know the difference between fantasy and reality.

Tony, I do not follow in my fellow friends on this board footsteps. I think Georgia wins this like they have 31 out of 41 of their previous games, and that is by three scores...or more. We shall see.
Go Dawgs! GATA!!

Sure FSU has a slim chance of an upset, but do you really believe it will happen. I believe it will be like the old Ivory soap commercial - "Ivory Soap - 99.44% pure."So the Dawgs IMO, are 99.44% favorites to win - FSU .56% chance to win.

For everyone predicting a slaughter like it is a done deal, what are you drinking? Sure UGA is favored and should be. It might be lopsided. But in case we haven't noticed, college football game involves a lot of emotion. All this Finebaum bullshit is heard by those FSU players, whose defense is pretty much intact. And how motivated is Georgia? They are going to be playing in an Orange Bowl that will look a lot like a Miami Hurricanes home game. UGA should be favored. They probably should be favored by a couple of touchdowns. But how many times have they covered this year?

So GTF, I have seen a bunch of articles saying that Brian Kelly will be leaving LSU to take the Michigan job. Speculation is that Harbaugh will jump back to the NFL to avoid sanctions for his cheating scandals. What are your thoughts on that scenario?

I think they get killed honestly.... but if they don't... if the defense shuts down UGA.... which "defense win championships.... unless your QB is out then they don't count"..... but if FSU shuts down UGA and is 14-0...... the only way they are NOT declared champs is if #1 or #2 blows through their next 2 games..... The discussion will be they beat UGA with both hands tied behind their backs without the qb and other opt-outs....... the counter will be "UGA had missing players".... but that is an excuse that is lost on the bowl season now that everyone is missing players. I think it would be great if FSU was 14-0...... they could sell a lot of "National champ" shirts.

So GTF, I have seen a bunch of articles saying that Brian Kelly will be leaving LSU to take the Michigan job. Speculation is that Harbaugh will jump back to the NFL to avoid sanctions for his cheating scandals. What are your thoughts on that scenario? I haven't seen too much from LSU sources. I remember Miles was rumored going to Michigan when Harbaugh rumors had him going to the NFL. Kelly had stated that he likes LSU and living in Baton Rouge, but Saban made similar remarks right before he left LSU to go to Miami and the NFL. But Kelly seems to like the SEC - and chance to win NC. From Sportskeeda: "The LSU Tigers' head coach Brian Kelly has had a successful career overlooking several programs. LSU is the fifth school Kelly has coached at. His journey has taken him from Grand Valley State in 1991, to LSU in 2023, and through Notre Dame also. In fact, he led the Fighting Irish to a championship game in 2013, and two College Football Playoffs semi-finals in 2018 and 2020. In his first season, he led the Tigers to a 10-4 season, which gave them a spot in the SEC Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs. They would lose this game, but it would be classed as a successful season for the Tigers. This season, he led the Tigers to a 9-3 record and a spot in the Reliaquest Bowl against Wisconsin. This also gave Kelly and LSU a Heisman Trophy winner in Jaylen Daniels, who had an incredible season with the Tigers. After two strong seasons, it is natural for speculation to arise as to whether Kelly could leave the Tigers for an even larger program, like Michigan. The veteran coach has stopped these rumors in their tracks, saying that LSU is the “last stop on the Kelly Caravan,” which has been to several schools around the country." As for my thoughts, I don't want to see him go - he has done a good job at LSU so far.

Never, ever know. Seriously, a combination of Georgia probably being a better team even if both at even strength and frankly, a lack of commitment from a bunch of FSU players. A huge difference in how two disappointed teams approached this game. I think FSU spent more time trying to get out of the ACC than they did taking this game seriously.

If Texas wins the CFP, the AP may vote Georgia the champs...yet another scenario. They did beat the hell out of a team missing 23 of it's players that is going through a divorce with it's conference because it didn't properly support it.
