After 32 seasons, divisional play is over in the SEC. Herr are the final divisional championship numbers
West East
Alabama 15(11-4) Florida 13 (7-6) LSU 7 (5-2) Georgia 11 (4-7) Auburn 6 (3-3) Tennessee 5 (2-3) Arkansas 3 (0-3) Missouri 2 (0-2) Miss. St. 1 (0-1) South Car. 1 (0-1) Ole Miss 0 Kentucky 0 Texas A&M 0 Vandy 0 SEC West 19-13 SEC East 13-19
SEC east teams won 7 of the first 9 SEC Championship games. After Florida's 7th SEC victory in 08, the east held an 11-6 record in SEC Championship games. Since, SEC West teams have won 13 of the last 15.
Alabama vs. Florida was easily the most common matchup, as these two teams faced off nearly 1/3 of 32 year SEC Championship history. Bama won the last 4 SECCG's against the Gators and hold a 6-4 advantage in those SECCG's against the Gators.

Sorry about the format The West and East teams were separated when I hit submit. Tried to edit, but it's separated there as well, so don't know how to fix.

The Top 6 Programs in the Conference are the same 6 that have dominated throughout the history of the conference, way before there were divisions.

The Top 6 Programs in the Conference are the same 6 that have dominated throughout the history of the conference, way before there were divisions. They didn't just dominate. They were the only schools to win the SECCG, in that 32 year span. Ole Miss never winning a division title is a slight surprise. They came close 4 or 5 times. Even tied one year(obviously didn't win tiebreaker) when Eli Manning was there. Basically, Florida replaced Ole Miss as the #6 SEC team all-time somewhere in there. Maybe a few years prior to divisional play.

Good point on the Gators. But damn, they got good quick once football was discovered in 1990.

When the Tigers won the west - they did pretty good in the SEC championship games. Best record per cent-age.

I can remember how huge the first few SEC championship games were - the game put the SEC on the map. Before the game - it always seemed the SEC was a little brother to the Big 10. The SEC championship game was a giant step for the SEC.
I have seen a lot of changes in college football over my lifetime. Especially football equipment. The helmet's have really changed. When I was in the 9th grade - the helmets were non suspension - a plastic shell lined with foam rubber. No face mask. The next year we had helmets with a suspension and face masks were a single bar across the front of the helmet. A fist would still go around the single bar. We had a game where two teammates had their noses broken. Good ole days.
I watched Tiger Stadium grow over the years. As a freshman in 1958 - Tiger Stadium capacity was about 65,000. Then the west upper deck - about 8o.000, then the east upper deck - about 90,000, then the south end zone - upper deck and executive suites. Also over the years - a lot of the bench type seats were replaced with seat back chairs. The current seating capacity is a little over 102,000. But the concession area and toilets' in the lower stadium are still pretty crappy. Not the nice big wide areas one sees in newer stadiums.
But I can't complain - its been a great life and hope to enjoy for a few more years.
