Obviously the impact on the University of Alabama has been enormous. His impact has spread way beyond that. I believe LSU fans would agree that prior to his arrival in Baton Rouge, LSU was in the wilderness for a decade. Now, LSU is a perineal power. His longest serving assistant went to Georgia and while he inherited a very good program, he has made it a national power that appears to have some staying power. Two more assistants have gone on to get Texas back on a national footing after more than a decade lost in the woods and revive the Ole Miss glory days of the early 60s. Dan Lanning has gone to Oregon and kept them on track and looking very competitive as they move to the B1G. Not all of them have been successes, but a Saban coaching guy has been in 3 consecutive playoff years.

No doubt that he helped revive the football program at LSU. I would have loved to see him remain at LSU. One wonders if LSU could have a few more NC under Saban if he hadn't left for the NFL. Would he have stayed at LSU until retirement or left for another college coaching job?

i would say the 2 coaches that have impacted CFB.... or maybe just football in general is Saban and Leach.
the coaching trees are endliess with each of them..... Saban with the dynasty of excellence and Leach with his approach to the game in general.
To have then both gone fro cfB is just unreal

Leach took it to another level, but he shouldn’t be credited for its creation.

I didn' say he invited the forward pass either.... but Hal has always been mentioned when Leach has been.... but Leach had a new concept. the Air Raid was brought into the ain stream by Leach.... but it wasn't Hal's..... the way Leach used Rbs, the OL splits at extreme..... The very act of bringing into the light is what changed football. Look at TX High school...... it is no longer 'ground and pound"... its all spread attack... the term "system Qb" was coined as normal speech with Leach... "air raid"....... got its boost from 'raiders"... and the Air raid became main stream... beating big programs smashing records.... it changed Cfb. and the coaching tree alone is uncountable. but yes Hal did his part.

No disrespect to him at all.... but i think saban AND Leach fell just right into the timeline of the world of media and the kind of TV that sports now has that didn't happen then.... i mean, i never saw a UF game unless it was for a championship out here in Tx.... the world has changed, an the coaches that hit right when it exploded and national coverage at the click of a button just changed the game. byU and Houston had qB's set records and win trophies..... it was just not normal.... but not many acorns the country saw every game and could tweet or jump online to talk about it. Kids didn't know about it and model their games because it was "trending".....
