love them, but damn they don't have a very long life expectancy.... family has had 2 of them, and both died of heat stroke..... one at 2 and one of 4...

UGA IX lived over 11 years and UGA X lived almost 11 years. Not as long as we would like, but also not as short as is often reported. The breed tends to live 8-10 years. UGAs have great diet and get exercised. Am sure PETA will come up with their normal nonsense about us changing over to a robot mascot.

This is why I don’t agree with the existence of brachycephalic breeds. They are inherently unhealthy as an entire group. It boggles my mind that a 50 pound dog has the same average lifespan as a dog the size of a Great Dane. But I digress. Sad for the family, losing a dog is difficult.

Also, I had a BD, great pet. She was my best friend. Agree on all fronts though, she was not healthy and left us way too soon.
Very high maintenance, cleaning the wrinkles to avoid yeast infections, cleaning her privates because BD can not do it on their own like most animals, making sure the tail does not screw into the anus, keeping them out of the heat, and feeding them with a strict diet to keep the extra weight off.

My oldest son had a French Bulldog. He died at about 12 years old.
RIP UGA. Dawgs had a successful run under your reign.

making sure the tail does not screw into the anus is this really a thing?

I love both dogs and cats, and I get attached to them easily. I know this hurts the UGa fanbase a lot, and I sympathize. If you ever need to get a robot, well, you know there's an institute in midtown Atlanta that could do that for you. We've had a mechanical mascot for decades. Yours might wind up with six legs, four wings, and (functional) antennae, and might show up in gold, white, and navy colors, but a little aftermarket modification, a couple cans of paint, and you'll have a durable alternative to the live one. Rest in peace, little dawggie.

making sure the tail does not screw into the anus is this really a thing? We paid for surgery for our BD when his tail did a corkscrew thing. It was life threatening. And very expensive. I loved that dog, but man the surgeries were non stop. Cherry eyes, ACL, kidney stones, ears…non stop.
