This summer my brother and I are doing a 10 day bike tour from Niagara Falls, NY to St. Albans, VT, following the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail around Lake Ontario and on to Montreal, before turning south to Vermont.
I have not ridden these kind of distances in decades, and I am a little (OK, more than a little) intimidated, so I am starting my training early.

Good breweries up that way.

I would think it would take about sixty miles a week training effort to be able to make the trip you described.
Good luck.

Good breweries up that way. I don't think he will be hitting many breweries when riding an average of 60 miles a day. Maybe hot tubs and a glass of wine to get rid of the aches and pains of the daily bike ride.

Get a new padded seat. You’ll definitely need it.

Unless you drink 20, then the hangover kicks your ass.

Maybe some beer drinking, but the back to back 60 miles for at least 10 will prevent any serious beer drinking. Or it will be hell to pay the next day facing 60 miles.

Actually, the goal is to get to the point where I can ride 60 miles on back to back days. Serious training would probably be reaching about 150 miles per week for the eight weeks before the trip. That was the simple formula for running. Marathons - training per day average of 1/3 the race distance. And that was the base level - enough training to be able to finish the race distance.

Good luck man. I’m sure at your size that’s not going to be easy.

Good luck man. I’m sure at your size that’s not going to be easy. Thanks. I think. The real problem is adding 30+ lbs of weight onto the bike for all our stuff.

I don't drink that much anyway. 2-3 and I'm good.

For bike riding, when training for a century my goal was always to ride a 70 miler the weekend before the 100 miler. Rule being if you can ride 70 in training, you can do 100 at the event. This is a little different because of the back to back days. Been trying to remember what I did the year I rode the back to back 75 mile days for the MS ride in Idaho, and I can't find it. For some reason my logs for that year end in July and the ride was in September.
