I was at a doctor's office and when they tested my blood oxygen - it was 85. The nurse went searching for an oxygen tank and came back with one. I was given support oxygen intake and my blood oxygen finally reached 90.
"A normal level of oxygen is usually 95% or higher. Some people with chronic lung disease or sleep apnea can have normal levels around 90%. The “SpO2” reading on a pulse oximeter shows the percentage of oxygen in someone's blood"
My provider wanted to call an ambulance, but my wife and I headed out to the hospital near our home. I went to the emergency room and checked in. I told them I had a my oxygen content was low and had a shortness of breath.
After a while, I was taken to an ER room. My vitals were checked and my oxygen count was 88, I was hooked up to supplement oxygen. It took about 5 hours to get checked into the main section of the hospital. I was hooked to the supplementary oxygen and at level 3. Blood was drawn, IV installed and the journey was on. X-Ray and CT Scan showed about over 50% of my right lung was Pneumonia infection.
So the treatment begin - antibiotics thru the IV, cough suppressants given three times a day, and boy lots of blood drained. Lots of pills given and the last thing given at night - a shot in the stomach to prevent blood clots.
But today at about 4pm I was released. They have my blood oxygen back up at 95 after clearing my right lung of Pneumonia. I have a bunch of follow up stuff to do.
We bitch and complain about hospital care a lot, but I take my hat off to the people who helped my this week. Hospitals run 24 hours a day - never closing. They help a lot of people. They are first line responders. HEROS.

Sounds like you went through quite the ordeal. Glad you’ve been released and hope you continue to a full recovery.

Glad you are feeling better. Pneumonia is nothing to play with.

Glad you are doing a lot better. When I had Covid and got hospitalized, my oxygen level was 86 and my brother, who is a paramedic, told me to get over to the hospital and get checked out. I don't think I had ever checked it on my own before, but now do it regularly.

Glad to hear you are okay. I have to keep an eye on my oxygen levels, also. I only have a real problem at night when I sleep and breathing is more relaxed and shallow, thus I have to use oxygen at night. Good news is that I did my last immunotherapy treatment the other day. Now, it is just a matter of wait and see what happens. They haven't used it yet, but hopefully, the term "remission" is my future.

I knew about it from a good friend who had COPD and was on supplemental oxygen all the time. I am buying one of those finger check kind and do a daily monitor on myself. It ain't fun growing old.

They called all the coughing I was doing as "productive coughing" because I was coughing up globs of mucus.
I am still doing a lot of it at home.

I just took a break from mowing my small front lawn. Checked my blood oxygen level and it was all the way down to 82. Not good. Recovered pretty quickly though.

There comes a time to swallow your pride and let someone else mow it, at least until you are recovered. Did you get any word on the status of whether you are in remission or not?

I will never fully recover from this. It was 3rd stage lung cancer. The term "remission" hasn't been used yet, but so far, the doctor says it is looking good. The cancer never migrated to anyplace else in the body, and while there is a visible mass in the bottom half of my right lung, it is not growing and the doctor thinks it is just scar tissue from the radiation. I completed a year of immunotherapy a couple weeks ago, and had a new PET/CT scan done a couple days ago. Will see the doctor next week to go over the results, and then take more pictures in a few months to monitor the situation. Just have to wait and see what happens, but while I wait, I might as well mow my damned lawn if I can. It is tough, but I need the exercise, even if I do use a self-propelled mower.

I am very glad that you are better! Since my first Covid case 4 years ago, I have been walking, biking and doing deep breathing exercises regularly. My normal blood O2 level stays between 97 and 99% now, but it needs to. My resting pulse rate is 46-52 beats/minute. I hope something like that could work for you too!
