found the to 50 football players from UT and was going to post it for Davdi so he would see that only a couple players from TTU would have made this list, if any, but decided not to.
Anyway, the Mt. Rushmore according to what I found would be: 4. Johnnie Majors (HB) 3. Doug Atkins (DE) 2. Reggie White (DE) 1. Peyton Manning (QB)
and Davdi, they have Jamal Lewis listed as the #16 best player in UT history, so TTU would NOT have anyone in the top 16 for sure.

Funnily enough Ameche, Dayne, Hirsch and Richter are exactly my four..... Super easy for me not to put Melvin on there. He was an awesome back but he didn't change the culture or the history of the Badgers the way the above four did... The one's it's hard for me to not include are Billy Marek, Joe Thomas, Tim Krumrie, Dave Schreiner, Mike Webster, Allan Shafer, Ron Vander Kelen and Barry Alvarez (I know Barry was never a player so he can't be on this one but he and Pat Richter are totally responsible for the turn around of the entire athletics program not just football)
Yeah, Melvin may not have changed the culture, but his two year run as UW running back was the best 2 year period of any Wisconsin running back easily, and it would've been better if he actually started 2 years ago. He was easily one of the 10 most talented UW players, and I think when it's all said and done he will end up in the top 5. I agree that Barry makes the list easily if you count coaches. Don't see how you can have Allan Shafer on there.....He may have had his jersey retired, but he also started like less then 5 games before he was killed vs Iowa. Gordon again was AWESOME. no doubt abvout it and he probably does have the talent to be the best pro of any back we've had here. That said Gordon's two year run was fantastic , it was not better than Dayne's four year run. If you go just "two best years? I will put Dayne's freshman and Senior years against anyones. If you go consecutive years I maybe give the edge to Gordon regarding individual production statistically, though Dayne's junior and Senior year were nothing to sneeze at statistically either, but let's also remember that Dayne ended both his junior and senior years as back to back Rose Bowl MVP's, his team won both Rose Bowl's and he won the Heisman trophy. With all due respect to Gordon's amazing feats he never accomplished any of those things. Again not taking ANYTHING away from Gordon but without Dayne there is no Gordon, hence Dayne on Mt Rushmore, but Gordon is not. I think we basically agree though.... As for Shafer, just a personal preference I have for him base don the era I guess (again I did not put him on there though)

Cleve Bryant Mike Schmidt Bob Brenly Dave Zastudil
Not really enough Bobcats for all football. If you're gonna restrict it like that, though, then I suppose Vince Costello and LaVonn Brazill.

I guess you have to include other athletes if you don't have enough football players. :-)
