I would say the transfers from Texas A&M would be thread worthy!

I would say the transfers from Texas A&M would be thread worthy! If they jump, Jimbo and 8&4 are toast. However, if they pony up enough money (again) to keep the class somewhat in tact, they could be really good the next couple of years. They played allot of Freshman and underclassmen this season. Those jumping ship so far have either been kicked off or never saw any playing time this season. Hopefully, come Monday, the big money guys bail!

Agreed but I’m hopeful they bolt since 3 aggies are already in the portal this week.

I’m pretty sure 95% of that number will come from the Gators.

I would love to see McNamara go home to Reno, but I highly doubt that happens

SO dumb question.
I thought most all football scholarships were for 4-year offers....
Can a scholarship be removed for any reason.... say "eh, you are just not that good"?
Transfers are for Playing time... but how many players get a scholarship and then roll the dice if they don't get another somewhere, they are screwed. ?
2500 in the portal? wow... 11,050 scholarship players in 130 teams.... plus 3,250 new HS players coming in...... Which i guess the same ought is going out as Sr's...
I would be shocked i f tTU keeps all 3 of their QB's.... all three could start... but i doubt if 1 or 2 leave they will be for bigger schools... but a G5 yes.

Thought they were one year deals. You are correct. About 12 years ago, under Chili’s, Auburn started offering four year scholarships, but that didn’t last long.

East Paulding HS standout Justin Williams-Thomas and Len'neath Whitehead, runningbacks from Tennessee have entered the portal. Whitehead saw playing time last year, but was passed by Dylan Sampson on the depth chart.
Wide receivers Jimmy Calloway and Jimmy Holiday are also entering the portal.

Schools can offer one, two, three or four year scholarships. The can offer 20% or any % they want up to 100% as long as the total of all scholarships each year don’t exceed the maximum number set by the NCAA.

I know other sports do that... for some reason i thought the NCAA switched football to 4-year offers... i guess there is just not a lot of media coverage when kids get told they don't have a scholarship for them the next year....

Some enter the portal because they want to leave. Others enter it because they are told to. there again... i was under the impression that coaches would just tell them "its best if you leave for Playing time"..... not that "we have no room for you'..... thinking of course it was a 4-year deal all the way around... Seems kinda like the TP could be used by Coaches more than players in that instance... do you feel is 50/50 more than people realize...? players get told to leave and get to be the bad guy when fans see them enter and don't know they are "told too"?

I would go with the 80-20 rule. 80% leave on their own accord. 20% leave because they are told to leave.

So no tampering. Enter portal one day, commit to a school the next day. Yeah right.

I think there are numerous players that go into the portal that stay there. This is from April 2022 - www.on3.com/news/college-football-fbs-ncaa-transfer-portal-46-percent-entries-did-not-land-new-school/Schools can give multi year scholarships, but many don’t. www.sportsengine.com/recruiting/are-athletic-scholarships-guaranteed-4-years

Drew Pyne is leaving ND. That’s a bit of a head scratcher. He was doing quite well and seemed poised to take the next step in South Bend.

Drew Pyne is leaving ND. That’s a bit of a head scratcher. He was doing quite well and seemed poised to take the next step in South Bend. I thought my co-worker was joking when he told me this. Especially with how thin ND is at QB. My guess is it is a combination of a couple of things. He doesn’t think he can beat out a returning Tyler Buchner, despite Pyne now having significantly more experience. And maybe he wasn’t as ok with Tommy Rees telling him to do his f@cking job as he made it look. Either way, best wishes young man.

Why in the heck would any QB want to transfer to Iowa? Interestingly enough, if he’s healthy he could probably turn them into a really solid team next year. The D is really tough.
