Yeah, I was about to mention this. Michigan's out of the top 25, and convincingly. They aren't even in the top 30.

I am happy with WVU's spot lol. oh and 1 first place vote. Looks like Wisconsin and OU did a flip flop compared to the coaches. I am glad to see Clemson who won vs Florida State in the top 25 but I dont see how Tennessee can still be ranked ahead of them.

if you look at the entire poll .. both coaches and AP ... what seems out of place? Tennessee at 0-1 while everyone else has a winning record.

Yes I do ... when tennessee wins next week then they could be top 25 but not ranked higher than a BCS conference school with a better record.

I am not saying that they shouldnt be top 25 .. I am saying that Clemson .. a BCS school who beat a quality team in Florida State should be ranked ahead of Tennessee.

I will also add that once teams begin to play thier Conference schedule that things should and will change. I know that a 1 loss team in Tennessee should be ranked ahead of a 1 loss Clemson team because Cal is definately a better game than Florida state.

I say they didn't want to penalize Tenn. for actually playing a game and not a bought weak ooc home win Like so many first week games are.

Note Wisc and Okla are actually tied in the AP poll but as is the case with Wisc we are always listed second even though it is a tie so naturally people think we are sixth instead of tied for fifth

Kudos to both schools for scheduling each other...seems like a bit more of that philosophy is taking place in the next few years...

The votes are not for the best record, they are for who the voter thinks are the top 25 teams. EXACTLY!!! I kind of get tired of the assumption that record indicates the better team. 1-0 or 0-1 means absolutely nothing comparitively of 1-0 is only the result of a blowout against Sister Mary's School for Blind Maidens, while 0-1 is showing a loss to a top 10 team. I think probably a third to half the top 25 could have taken a loss against Cal, but that doesn't mean they'd be worse than all Div-IA teams that didn't lose in the opening weekend without considering who they played and if there was even remotely a chance that they could have taken a loss. Right now, Louisville's 1-0 record means absolutely micro-dickey in terms of records. Louisville could have fielded an 8-man team and still won that game.

DJ, my comment wasn't to dis Louisville, but to illustrate the lack of meaning held by a 1-0 or 0-1 record without considering the circumstances. A loss to a top 10 team after only one game might be the beginning of an 11-1 season. Who knows.

Sadovin .... I guess I must try and explain my meaning. Most of the records are bunk. I agree. I was just pointing out that a loss is a loss. Most of the teams didnt play anyone. I agree. I only saw really 2 tough games this weekend. Clemson v FSU and Tenn v Cal. Tennessee lost. Clemson deserves to be ranked ahead. You are right in that the TENN loss could be the beginning of a 11-1 season. At season end they should be ranked higher. While right NOW Clemson should be ranked higher. I was not trying to dis Tennessee. I think they are a top 25 team. But as of right now they have a worse record than Clemson. Who in my opinion should be ranked higher because they won thier game. No I dont think that Tenn should be ranked below "our sisters of Mercy" who might have won thier game. Tenn was in the top 25 and Clemson was darn close to being top 25. Not much of a difference.
