The SEC vs The Big 10. Brutus

The best rivalry is subjective and depends completely upon one's perspective. To someone in the SEC, the USC/UCLA or USC/Notre Dame rivalries each are nothing more than just another BCS matchup. Likewise, Auburn/Alabama, Georgia/Florida, Oklahoma/Texas, Ohio State/Michigan, etc., to people not in one of the participating conferences.

It really depends on where you are. I will always say the Alabama/Auburn rivalry is the best, not because it is the best game of the year, but because it is all in-state. You live with this rivalry every single day, at work, school, or home. I can also see how big the Michigan/Ohio State game is, but when it is over they go to different states.

Don, exactly, something osu and michigan fans don't seem to understand. IN STATE Give it a rest, Cassells, you're showing your ass again. USC and UCLA are in-fucking-city, so does that mean the Auburn/Alabama rivalry sucks?

Pretty obvious that this thread is one of a rhetorical question aimed @ getting a certain answer and no other, seeing as it was addressed to an AUBURN fan instead of "buckeyedave, what do you think is the best rivalry?"
Just depends on region. Go to Oklahoma and tell them the RR Shootout pales in comparision to something else. They'll blast you.
Or Durham, NC...where Duke-UNC they'll tell you dwarfs ANY college football rivalry.
Where you grow up depends on who you hate. I can't understand USC-UCLA, but you can't possibly understand OSU-Michigan.
I do know this, I was giving a golf lesson to a guy last week who lived down south and we got to talking football and he said "man, it's a LOT different up here. Down there they just root for all their rivals in the SEC to do well. Up here, I can't find ANYONE who pulls for other Big 10 teams. The hate is a lot deeper in the Big 10. Down south they only hate the other conference teams when they play them." Sounds like fackin' Christmas parties below the Mason-Dixon line.

Don, exactly, something osu and michigan fans don't seem to understand. IN STATE I, like most people, completely understand that r-tard. You don't. Just like you don't understand why schools outside the SEC even bother to field teams anymore. Confrocentric bastard. You're so laughable.

Teddy, you're wrong on this my friend....I can list several B10 fans who were not Penn St or Wisc fans talking about thier bowl victories and the fact that they (b10) were 2-1 against the SEC in bowl games last year.

Were they backed into a corner by the overwhelming SEC presence? What was their excuse? I just tossed a quote I got from a guy out there. He went on and on, but the point was made.
I personally think all other Big 10 teams suck. I joke if someone does that conference superiority crap on me, but I'm just as likely to do the same if a Pac 10-Big East argument is going on. I enjoy pissing people off en masse. To me it doesn't matter if it's WIsconsin (who doesn't actually suck) or Minnesota (who actually does). To me they all do.

You'd do that too if you had a retarfag constantly throwing 0 - 8 in your face. Especially when said retarfag hides behind the protective cloak of an entire conference as opposed to manning up and supporting one team for better and worse. Most SEC fans don't know sufferage. Let's see a show of hands from the Vandy and Miss State fans in the house! No? Didn't think so.

And I think that a rivalry where military action was imminent at one point is more intense. But it doesn't matter and until you pick a team neither do you assbag.

And, you're still an ass bag and a coward.

I am a true believe in the hatred every day that comes out of in-state rivalries. Especially Auburn/Alabama, GT/UGAg, and UF/FSU. However, for the best rivalry, based upon it taking center stage every day, all day, every year, for the rest of your life... I give you Army Navy.

I always enjoy the Army / Navy game. But they need to have a Pier 6 Brawl at least once.

I agree the question is subjective.... I enjoy many different rivalries, there are different ones with "different motives." If you are looking for the ones with the most animosity between the 2 teams it is OSU-Michigan, Auburn-Alabama. If you are looking for one with class and hard faught regardless of record Army Navy.... I could go on... Oklahoma- Texas, USC - UCLA usually play national significance. Louisville and WVU has been growing into a HUGE rivalry. Harvard and Yale....They all have significance and meaning.
Auburn and LSU have grown significantly as a rivavlry in the past 10 years, but there isn't hatred between the two teams.
Auburn -UGA Nasty...but the longest running rivalry in the South Tennessee - Alabama....the bad news about that game is that someone has to win...

Joe, both teams are undefeated in conference. For the record, I despise Alabama. I respect what they have done for the SEC, but they are, as Cassells puts it, in the past.

Auburn UGA is another huge rivalry. I don't get as excited about playing LSU, even though they have been good of late, as I do for playing even a mediocre Alabama team. Something about them beating us so bad for so long. I was glad to see Stallings retire.

What about WVU-Pitt aka The Backyard Brawl...that's not an in-state rivalry but both schools are located 70 miles apart...closer than most in-state rivalries...what's the criteria for that?
