Dodgers 2 out in the bottom of the 9th, bases empty rally! Win 3-2 take a 2-0 lead. 2 down, 9 to go.

Wow...who would have thought that the Dodgers would win both games against Carp and Wainright? Not me. I thought at the worst for the Cards it would be 1-1...
The Dodgers look like they have 'it' going right now.

This must have been how Red Sox fans felt when the Buckner play happened I'm guessing they felt much worse. The Red Sox mishap was in the WS, and if makes that play they win the WS. Not to mention the fact that IMO his play was easier then Holliday's.

I know that I am just saying that feeling of losing a playoff game on a pretty routine flyball

You know what is strange? The story of Jon Lester is great...and we hear about it less frequently then it deserves. From suffering from cancer a couple of years ago to being perhaps the most dominating left handed pitcher in the Bigs.
Lester has nasty stuff, and has done a nice job so far tonight.
I mean the Dodgers have 'it' being the ability to win those close games. That happens sometimes in the playoffs. Cardinal fans should know about that...they did that in 06.

There have been rumors around Wisconsin that Lester might be a Brewer next season in a trade for a certain overweight, left handed 1B.

Looks like a missed call at first base on the tag by Youker.
Lester just struck out the batter to make up for it though. That guy is really really good. A great young lefty to go along with Josh Beckett is a pretty nasty tandem.

That certain overweight, LH 1B is the second best hitter in the NL. I would do that trade if I were the Sox

That certain overweight, LH 1B is the second best hitter in the NL. I would do that trade if I were the Sox I wouldn't. The Brewers apparently would get Clay Bucholtz as well.(At least thats what Haudricourt is saying) Brewers will probably trade JJ Hardy this offseason as well, and moving him down to the Minors was a beyond stupid move hurting his trade value and confidence. That being said I think that Gamel would be able to to replace Prince fairly well. Brewers problem isn't offense(They have one of the better lineups in the NL), but pitching.

Fielder's stats were comparable or better than Pujols in some catogories so I would not say that Gamel would replace him easily

That certain overweight, LH 1B is the second best hitter in the NL. I would do that trade if I were the Sox I would disagree with that. How rare are young left handed pitches that are horses in terms of innings and have lights out stuff? Answer....very rare.

Wow CB Buckner is having an awful night at first base. I have only been watching this game part of the time and have seen him miss 2 calls albeit on close plays...
The last one where Youk came back down on the bag...was not close. He was out by 5 feet... The one on the tag seemed pretty clear as well.
Guess it doesn't matter since if the Sox want to win they have to score a few runs. Hate to see umpires miss those 'easy' calls in big games.

Go Dodgers. Kinda wishing I'd had enough faith to take that AV bet with you Mizz
Dodgers have been winning close games all season long. I think they led the majors in 1 run wins or one of those other arcane states for wins in close games

Fwiw I wouldn't make the lester for fielder trade. The playoffs are all about great pitching and a wicked 1-2 punch of Beckett and Lester gives you a chance every time you make the playoffs.
Good hitters are easier to find and/or buy. Hell, Texiera was a FA this past offseason, go get a guy like that. They come onto the FA market every year or so anyway.

I am pretty OK with the combo of Youk and V-Mart at first... I don't see this trade getting done at all... although, if they pull the Pap trade that I mentioned on the Baseball board, I would say that it looks more possible to do this.
