I'm sad but not surprised, with all the media cries for his head and the general mood of Dawg Nation he was only going to get another year and with a true freshman viewed as the savior of the team I didn't see him doing any better next year with a younger OL and receiver corp.
Interesting reports say he's agreed to coach the Dawgs through the bowl we go to, whichever that one is.

I wish him the best. He was a DGD and a damn good coach. I will 100% support the new coach and hope that he makes me think this was a smart move. I however have my doubts that the leadership in the athletic department will make a good hire and even if they do will they support him the way they never have him until the last few seasons.

I have a feeling that the Bulldogs will be sorry for this move. Let me guess who is next....

Get rid of Butch Jones and hire him today!!! I have to wait and see. Richt is a good coach and deserved better than UGA treated him.

I wish Coach Richt nothing but the best in his future endeavors . He is a good coach and a great man but it is time to see where a new coach can take us. I just hope whoever it is gets this team to play to it's potential every Saturday. Thank you Coach for all that you do.

Get rid of Butch Jones and hire him today!!! I would be sick to my stomach if any SEC team hires him, especially an SEC east team. Outside of a 3 year span of my life (when I was 3-6) in the early 80's Richt has been by far the most successful coach of my life and by winning % the most successful coach in UGA history. I sure as heck hope they get the right guy for the job because Richt has set the bar so high that 10-3 in back to back seasons is considered mediocre so good luck to the new coach.

Now it is time to watch to see who leaves. Marshall is leaving, will Chubb? Michel? Will Eason remain committed?

I give the new coach next year only to win the east. If he does not my contributions to this university will cease.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't go anywhere. I could just as well see him working in the mission field.

It is probably too soon, but I am willing to make another post bet that Hurd will be taken in the NFL draft higher than Michel.

Good year for Richt to be landing a new job, not such a good year for UGA to be hiring a new coach.

Les stayed, London got a extra year. Sabans at Bama Fuentes at VT Kyle Shan with Falcons Jay Gruden not fired and on and on...
UGAs landing a superstar like Chip Kelly. Just to continue to have coaching moves piss me off.
Be excited UGA fans. Its gonna be good.

But we are supposed to be hiring a BETTER coach so 10 wins is not enough. And God hrlp him if he loses to either Tech or Auburn. We may have screwed UF with Muschamp as coach. They have paid us back in spades with McGarity. This had better be a home run.

I really am very sad to see him go. Until this season I have been one of his staunchest supporters. I wanted nothing more than to see him succeed. He is a great man and wonderful human being. The complete collapse (again) in the Alabama game pretty much changed my mind. It had been shown over and over again that Georgia was unprepared for that type of game and that they would come out flat and head shakingly lose to what should have been overmatched opponents. Yes it had been 20 years since Georgia won the SEC when Richt arrived. But it's been 10 years now.
So there were 2 choices, you stick with Richt and expect 8 or 9 or 10 win seasons with no type of championship expected. Or you try something else. Remember it was viewed by many as risky to get rid of Donnan and hire an unproven Richt. Could this go horribly? Of course. Georgia could completely whiff on the hire, especially with McGarity in charge of the process. It could also be a huge success. I guess we'll see now that the decision has been made.
