what if it was just the worst dick kicking in championship game history? .......... and MICH was actually a 7-5 team that cheated its way in? where a lucky TCU team that should have lost 5 games then exposed them?.... only to get rocked by a team that actually deserved to be in the CFBPO? thats really a much more likely factual assessment. that works too. i hope theres a year georgia is #3 and then loses the conference championship game and then moves toooooooooooooo #3. that would be swell, dont know many teams that can make that happen like TCU did

Beamer and South Carolina getting brought in to the scandal. Thst sounds more like Vol fan paranoia. "Hey Beamer, we stole signs so you can use them against Vols and Tigers. But please don't tell anyone". They are dumb, but doubt they are quite that stupid.

Now, it is being reported that Ohio State and other Big Ten schools called TCU and told them about this scheme. TCU assistant coaches are saying they knew and changed their signs, but kept some as "dummy" signs. They then watched as Stalions, standing next to the Wolverine DC read the dummy signs and misplayed the TCU play call. Would seem crazy if it wasn't clear that Michigan was routinely fooled by TCU plays.

Amid the sign-stealing scandal at Michigan, there have only been two teams to beat the Wolverines over the past two seasons. Both were in the College Football Playoff, with Georgia and TCU advancing to the national championship game. This led people to wonder if the Big Ten Champions had not covered all of their bases.
Turns out, at least from the TCU side, they were just ahead of the game. According to a report from Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger, Sonny Dykes‘ staff knew about Michigan stealing signs and changed things up ahead of the Fiesta Bowl.
“TCU coaches learned from other staffs about Michigan’s ‘elaborate’ sign-stealing before the CFP semifinal,” Dellenger said in a tweet. “TCU changed signs but used ‘dummy’ (old) signs to trick the Wolverines, coaches tell @yahoosports. TCU players were told to ignore the dummy signs.”
So exactly how did TCU find out about Michigan’s plan to steal signals? The two had never played each other and the coaching staffs did not have any kind of real connection with one another.
Other Big Ten teams were quick to notify the Horned Frogs once the College Football Playoff semifinal matchups were announced. Dellenger reports TCU received phone calls from other coaching staffs — including Ohio State — around the country, warning them of what will occur.
“Not long after the CFP unveiled the 2022 semifinal matchups — Georgia vs. Ohio State and TCU vs. Michigan — the Horned Frogs staff began receiving phone calls from coaches across the country about what was a well-known fact in the Big Ten coaching community: that Michigan had an elaborate sign-stealing system,” Dellenger said.
TCU went into the game prepared and came out on top with a 51-45 win, a historic moment for their program. Following the game, a TCU staffer went back to rewatch the game, following the moves of Connor Stalions, only to find he got multiple calls wrong throughout the game.
“The guy (Stalions) was wrong a couple of times,” a TCU staff member told Dellenger. “We rewatched the TV version of the game. You can see him standing next to the defensive coordinator. He tells something to the coordinator and he points in the air to mean pass. You can see the playsheet he’s holding with our hand signs on them.”
The College Football Playoff was announced on Dec. 4, while the Michigan-TCU game took place on New Year’s Eve. This gave Dykes’ staff plenty of time to prepare. Mix that in with a veteran unit in Fort Worth and they were able to deceive Michigan.

The guy could have sold SC and UGA signs. TCU knew, maybe the guy was peddling signs to all kinds of teams trying to set up the CFBPO how Mich wanted it...

But why would Michigan sell Georgia signs so that they could play again after the Dawgs beat the hell out of them the year before? And if they did, it obviously didn't help the Georgia defense after giving up 41 points.

We really dont don’t know how many lower staffers this guy used and told. You get a kid not loyal to Michigan as perhaps you think, boom he gets $20k in a bag and TN gets a loss. Its just being open open minded to the idea this could get really messy

I really can't imagine a guy whose dream job was working at Michigan would then betray his love of the school just for some quick money. Why spend 20k for info you could get yourself for much less by having your own scouting ring? If I'm another school why pay a guy for info that I can't trust? Why bring in another whole layer of people you can't control by bringing in other schools and coaches?
I heard this same bullshit when Tennessee was busted for paying recruits. Everyone was doing it and Kirby and Saban were going to be next...right Dan Patrick?

It is my understanding that most coaches know other teams try to steal signals. It seems a lot of them would like to get communication between the coaches and the QB. Electronics in the helmet. But the conferences are against it - says it will increase the cost of basically doing business -extra costs for a football game. Kind of weak IMO.

Comments concerning this issue:
Administrators have raised concerns that headset communication like the kind used in the NFL would void the warranties of helmets. There's also the consideration of cost and implementation. Officials would have to employ someone to turn off the communication devices before each play as well.
A longtime official told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg that the excuses don't merit not using the devices.
"If you want to clean up what's going on at Michigan and every other school, put a transmitter," the official said. "The NCAA talks about losing the warranties on the helmets. With the USFL, XFL, NFL, with transmitters, it does not lose the warranty. I don't care what it costs, we want it. Clean up the game, make it more professional. It's just technology."
Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said that he's "all for it" and that it would "take some of that out of the game and make sure that it's all fair."
"You can't steal signs and do any of this stuff if you have a helmet communicator," said Alabama coach Nick Saban.
Florida State coach Mike Norvell said that sign stealing has been going on "forever" and that the staff does an "elaborate job of how we communicate" to avoid it.

Seems you could intercept signals or even jam them. I fully agree it is a much better idea than what we currently do, but doubt it is fool proof.

Answered my own question. NFL helmet communication rules The helmet of a player must be fitted only with a speaker and not a microphone since only one-way communication is allowed in the NFL. The communication will automatically get switched off when the play clock winds down to 15 seconds.

I believe when i watched the Auburn / FSU title game right before the half the players came off the field saying THEY CALLING THE PLAYS COACH, talking to Jimbo about what Auburn was doing.
Didnt FSU have a coach go over to Auburn right before the title game or something, this is ringing a bell with me

I only remember Pruitt leaving coming to UGA after game. If that happened, shame on Jimbo. No, FSU players were telling Jimbo that Auburn players knew what plays were coming. So someone from Auburn somehow knew and i thought i remember and FSU coach going over to auburn right at the end of the year to coach, or maybe he went from FSU to Auburn the prior year.
