Cotton Ohio State vs Mizzou Peach Ole Miss vs Penn St Fiesta Liberty vs Oregon Orange Georgia vs FSU Add Michigan, Bama, Washington and Texas and you would be looking at a 12 team playoff.

Isn't first round of the 12 team format at the higher ranked team's home stadium?

Why wouldn't we. You can up the number to whatever you like, see college basketball. As long as there is not an standard for all teams to qualify and we depend upon moving targets and opinions clouded with dollar signs, we will have chaos. Not as much for the 12th team in the playoffs as the 4th team in the playoffs. IMO. nah... even then you will have at least 4-8 teams bitching about why they should be included... when you get down to 2 & three loss teams, there are a lot more of them

Liberty gets the New Years 6 Bowl. They played the 130th ranked schedule. They played NO Power 5 teams. SMU played Oklahoma and TCU and lost to both. Again, this is just so inconsistent.

The most entertaining part of this, IMO, is how the posters who have always been on the side of having the "best teams" in the playoff have turned to the "most deserving" side. Pure hypocrisy, and I think being butthurt might have a lot to do with it. Speak for yourself. While Bama would be in my format, so would Liberty. In the current format, there is no way Bama deserves to be in there. In the current format, yes they do. The current format is to pick the 4 best teams. If the committee feels they are one of the 4 best, they deserve to be there. And will be.

This is really sad and frankly, hard to read:
Post See new posts Conversation Jordan Travis @jordantrav13 devastated. heartbroken. In so much disbelief rn, I wish my leg broke earlier in the season so y’all could see this team is much more than the quarterback. I thought results matter. 13-0 and this roster matches up across any team in those top 4 rankings. I am so sorry. Go Noles! 1:03 PM · Dec 3, 2023 · 5.7M Views

I understand FSU's offense didn't look great and not having Travis on the field is a big blow, but they absolutely have a championship caliber defense. They probably weren't going to put up a ton of points, but they have a defense that can shut people down. But I guess that doesn't sell tickets either.
I have no problem with non league Champs being included as long as they have a similar or better record against a similar schedule that a conference champ has. Leaving out an undefeated major conference champion because they had to play 1 game with their 3rd string QB is complete BS and FSU has every right to be furious about it. No way Alabama should be in.

We also need to remember this year is as big an anomaly as 2007 was. We have never had remotely a Top 8 that NEVER changed for the entire rating period. I would argue that you could a blanket over the Top 8 and any one of them could beat the other on a given day. That has not been the case in the norm. That is why the outrage this year is miles beyond anything since at least the first one.

It’s just kinda sad to me. The Rose Bowl, the grand daddy of them all according to Keith Jackson. It’s going to be played by 2 undeserving teams. And to make it worse, the winner of those 2 undeserving teams gets to play for the championship.

I also find it odd that you never heard a peep about or from tOSU, even though they too were a 1 loss team. Their 1 loss being a 3 pt loss to the #1 team in Ann Arbor.
....but then again, today I learned that w/l and results on the field are not considered.

Conference champs only, all conference champs. No wildcards or at-large bids. Teams seeded by the entire conference OOC win percentage minus wins over FCS programs. Bottom seeds play in until numbers work to a bracket format, top seeds get a bye. Game a Boise (7-5) (vs SMU (11-2) Game b Miami Ohio (11-2) vs Troy (11-2) Mich 13-0 vs Game A winner Washington 13-0 vs Game B winner Texas 12-1 vs Liberty 13-0 FSU 13-0 vs Alabama 12-1 Michigan No Losses Washington No Losses Texas 1 Loss to Oklahoma 30-34 Alabama 1 Loss to Texas 24-34 FSU No Losses Liberty No Losses SMU 2 Losses to TCU 17-34; to Oklahoma 11-28 Troy 2 Losses to K State 13-42; to James Madison 14-16 Miami Ohio 2 Losses to Maimi Florida 3-38; Toledo 17-21 Boise 5 Losses to Washington 19-56, to UCF 16-18, to Memphis 32-35, to Colorado State 30-31, to Fresno St 30-37 All won their conference, all are deserving.

If FSU wins over UGA, give them NC rings and shirts. Look, I get it...but that's now how it works. Sure it is. They will be 14-0 bowl winners, beating 3 SEC teams.... they can pit put whatever they want on their own building, print shirts if they want, and the eyes of public perception will carry what it carries. You/no one knows how it works since this has never happened before. The opinion of 9 or 11 people in a room don’t trump the opinion of 100million CFB fans that I think would actually support the claim IF they take outt UGA convincingly

Statement from Michael Alford, Vice President and Athletics Director, Florida State University "The consequences of giving in to a narrative of the moment are destructive, far reaching, and permanent. Not just for Florida State, but college football as a whole." "The argument of whether a team is the 'most deserving OR best' is a false equivalence. It renders the season up to yesterday irrelevant and significantly damages the legitimacy of the College Football Playoff. The 2023 Florida State Seminoles are the epitome of a total TEAM. To eliminate them from a chance to compete for a national championship is an unwarranted injustice that shows complete disregard and disrespect for their performance and accomplishments. It is unforgiveable." "The fact that this team has continued to close out victories in dominant fashion facing our current quarterback situation should have ENHANCED our case to get a playoff berth EARNED on the field. Instead, the committee decided to elevate themselves and 'make history' today by departing from what makes this sport great by excluding an undefeated Power 5 conference champion for the first time since the advent of the BCS/CFP era that began 25 years ago. This ridiculous decision is a departure from the competitive expectations that have stood the test of time in college football." "Wins matter. Losses matter. Those that compete in the arena know this. Those on the committee who also competed in the sport and should have known this have forgotten it. Today, they changed the way success is assessed in college football, from a tangible metric - winning on the field - to an intangible, subjective one. Evidently, predicting the future matters more." "For many of us, today's decision by the committee has forever damaged the credibility of the institution that is the College Football Playoff. And, saddest of all, it was self-inflicted. They chose predictive competitiveness over proven performance; subjectivity over fact. They have become a committee of prognosticators. They have abandoned their responsibility by discarding their purpose – to evaluate performance on the field." "Our players, coaches, and fans - as well as all those who love this sport - deserve better. The committee failed college football today."

All won their conference, all are deserving. Your solution is MILES worse than the cluster we currently have. It is in fact a joke. If you cannot see the difference, your problem, not mine. The difference is that this system has integrity, something that you should have learned about in your storied career. You continue to be an ass, that is your problem, not mine. Don't like it, that is fine. Be an adult, someone with your credentials should at least know how to do that. I agree with Davdi, you are a poor example of a moderator. Who, in that system would have been shortchanged? Every one of them is a conference champion. No undefeated team would be left out.
