He also doesn't need to be awful. I agree, it's a high reward potential without giving up much, but I still don't see it, but of course, I also didn't think Piniero and Lohse would be pitching in the majors much anymore..

I think the Cards will win the division, but about the Cubs choking, I was just kidding about that. The Cubs will definitely contend. Call me crazy but I think they will actually go beyond expectations this year.

Oh, BigRed, without a doubt. The Cards are definitely the most formidable team in the Central. If the Cubs have any hopes of playoffs or World Series, they're certainly going to have to go through St. Louis.

Looks as if the Cubs' pitching rotation has gotten a bit weaker, with Zambrano, a now aging Ryan Dempster (how long can he keep up his work as a starter?), Ted Lilly (Starting on the DL though), Tom Gorzelanny, a hopefully not one and done Randy Wells, and probably Jeff Samardzija at the beginning of the year in place of Lilly. I was hoping the Cubs would find somebody to replace Harden, but it looks as though they'll depend on what they already have.

Probably, at least something was done about the outfield when the Cubs got rid of Bradley and added Marlon Byrd (who is also getting up there in age) and Xavier Nady (who has had injury plagued seasons). They have their negatives, but hopefully there will be a huge improvement over Bradley's "production" from last year..

Hey atleast I was not the one who predicted Illinois would contend in football and Mizzou could atleast beat them in basketball To be fair my predictions lately have been very good. I picked Missouri to pick Illinois. I said Illinois would be a bubble basketball team even though they were ranked in the top 25 preseason by most, and it seems I'm right so far. 1. Cards 2. Brewers 3. Cubs 4. Astros 5. Reds 6. Pirates

This is the year my Pirates shock the world and take the NL Central. Ok, maybe not. I am looking forward to seeing the kids play. Believe it or not, there is some young talent in the organization for the first time in a long time. As far as record, if they win 70 games, I'll be surprised. Cards Cubs Brewers Astros Reds Pirates

Jes sayin Damn if they would have kept Lee, the whole MLB would have been playing for 2nd. Still the deepest lineup in the NL by far. Getting Polanco will only add to the overall depth of the lineup. Still have a solid starting rotation. Now the bullpen, that is a different story. But when up 8-2 heading to the 7th they should be able to hold most of those games.

Cubs Cards Brewers Astros Reds Pirates Doubt the Cubs will take first in the division away from the powerful Cardinals...they'd have to start people like Todd Wellemeyer in all 5 pitching slots plus take away Albert Pujols for the entire season..

Define "...choke as usual" for me. I'm pretty sure the Cubs won the Central division two years in a row prior to last season. So, you're either stupid or don't know anything about baseball or both. Way to go! As for predictions, you can shove 'em up your ass. Are you guys high? 77-85? Are you predicting all the same injuries as last year, too? If the Mets weren't running the league's biggest MASH unit, that honor would have fallen to the Cubs last year. Let's review Carrie Muskat's rundown of all the injuries to the Cubs last year... "Fifteen players went on the disabled list 18 times, adding up to 584 games missed. And when that list includes Aramis Ramirez (50 games), Carlos Zambrano (31 games), Aaron Miles (53 games), Reed Johnson (64 games), Alfonso Soriano (29 games), Geovany Soto (26 game), and Ted Lilly (24 games), it's hard to keep up in the division." ...and they still finished second. That means the Brewers suck, the Reds suck, the Pirates try to suck by trading away talent, and the Astros squander talent to suck. As for acquiring Tejada being awesome...if by awesome you mean getting an overrated, overpaid, older-than-advertised, past-his-prime, no-good-without-steroids player than, yes, awesome! He certainly would be an upgrade from Khalil Greene, though. I haven't been in this thread much, but I have just been recently reading the posts in it. I am "stupid" and "don't know anything about baseball" ? First off, I was just kidding when I said "the Cubs will choke as usual." Read my previews post before this one that I made please. I play baseball and, I know the game well. Just because I don't see the Cubs winning the world series this year doesn't make me a idiot. It is my opinion. The Cubs will have a good season and could very well win there division, but I don't see them winning the world series. I am not a die hard Cubs fan but I do support them in a way. I have been to a couple of there games back in 1996 when I lived in Chicago. I don't hate the Cubs.
