And I just jinxed Hamels. He mows down Pujols and Holliday in the 8th and gets beat in the ninth by the bottom half of the order.

All is well that ends well. Hamels and Wainright pitch to a draw and the Phils bullpen ironically outlasts the Cards.
Even at 1 after two games.

The Phils are lucky. They miss Carp and get Lohse

The Phils are lucky. They miss Carp and get Lohse Such is the draw of the reg season. Doesn't Carp pitch on Thursday opposite Halladay?

The Reds lost tonight 5-4 against the Mets. Francisco Cordero just couldn't close it out tonight.

Well, the Cards are in real danger of losing 3 of 4 in Philly with Halladay going on the hill tomorrow. Was surprised at a how well Kendrick pitched tonight and how well the pitching in general has done for the Phils this series.
If they can keep this sort of pitching up, they'll be tough for anyone to beat.

We don't care toph.
The Brewers are probably the most inconsistent team in baseball right now.

We don't care toph. The Brewers are probably the most inconsistent team in baseball right now. And the Brew Crew and Phils get to play this weekend. You'll care then.

Brewers have the worst home record in baseball so the Phillies will probably sweep them. If this was played in Philly I would like the Brewers chances a lot more. I went to the game today, and the offense is complete shit without Braun right now.

The Phils aren't lucky, they just steal signs.

Better game tonight by the Reds. I think the main reason they lost yesterday to the Cards was because, Harang gave Pujols way to many hittable balls. Harang made way to many mistakes in that game. At least walk Pujols!
Tonight I thought Leake did a good job continuing to pitch the ball down low. I really wish though Baker would let Masset or who ever is pitching the 8th pitch the 9th also. Cordero coming into the 9th scares the crap out of me every time. You never know if he is going to blow the game or not. Just my thoughts.

He has pretty good stuff, and got the tough outs tonight in the 8th (including Pujols). Cordero is a guy that the Reds can usually count on. He doesn't always close it out like Rivera, but no one does. He has good stuff and competes fairly well. The problem is he is not a groundball pitcher, and that makes any close game scary at GABP.

Just in case some of you guys were not keeping up with the standings the Reds just won a series 2-1 over the Cardinals to move into first place in the NL Central.
Just saying...

Hate to break it to you BTB but its May Don't care. The Reds are young and if they can start to get some confidence I think their performances can remain at a fairly high level. The Reds are playing very well right now winning 8 of their last 10. Still a long long long way to go, but still something that they need to build on as a young team.

Nope, being realistic. The Brewers will probably win the next series they play vs Philly on the road. The Brewers are a very difficult team to figure out.

I never thought the Reds would steal two games in the series against the Cards. 1st place feels good for now.

R Y A N G O M E S!
Cordero closed it out tonight and the Reds hold on to a 6-3 win over the Brewers. I wont lie, I was nervous like I always am when Cordero pitches. Like BTB said though he is a groundball pitcher. In close games he can put a scare into any Reds fan.

An underrated player for the Reds is Drew Stubbs. Very quick, plays great defense, and has thrived in the lower third of the order. Along with young Votto, Bruce and the combination of the older Phillips (not that much older), and Rolen they have a solid mix.
Another good start for Cueto who is starting to become more and more consistent.
Cordero can give ya cause for concern, but is pretty reliable.

Take Hoffman out back, and just finish him off.

What a rally today! Scott Rolen had a tying pinch-hit, two-run homer in the 9th and, Votto singled off the wall to seal the deal.
Impressive rally from a young team. Things are sure going swell so far, for the Reds. Hopefully they can keep playing this well before and after the all star break.

Take Hoffman out back, and just finish him off. I don't blame you BB--he has been horrible. Bucs with a big win over the Phils last night--they were 3:1 dogs with Halladay vs Duke as the pitching matchup.
