Because it should have been a 3 run shot. They've taken the life out of college baseball with these bats.

So like LSU before them, NC State came in having won 6 straight in the postseason by a combined 35-11. Against UCLA they managed 1 run on 5 hits. Couldn't be because of UCLA though.

No, that is correct. A 4th will be eliminated tonight (NC State or UNC with the winner to face UCLA)

This has been a CWS with fantastic pitching.

This has been a CWS with fantastic pitching. There has been great pitching but the ballpark has helped a little. Not trying to take anything away from the pitching - but the ballpark has helped to change a few bad pitches from hits to outs. And I know that all of the teams are playing in the same park.

It could have something to do with the park. Lot of long balls that stayed in would have been HRs at other parks. UCLA would have lost both the LSU game and the NC State game in another park.

So, all of these great pitchers went to Omaha with sub 2 era's because they played in small ballparks? The go to TD Ameritrade field and have succes because its a large park? Anyone who thinks the field is an excuse has never played baseball before. I just had a long chat with guys on TD who are bleeding butthurt because of the Stadium in Omaha. For the life of me, I will never understand this arguement.

I don't think I said anything like that GT - great pitching is great pitching in a small park or a large park. It's just that a bad pitch in the big park is a long out where in a smaller park it's a homer. If the great pitchers with sub two era's played all of their games in that park they would probably have sub one era's. And all teams are playing in the same park for the CWS so it is an even playing field. I also said it turned a few pitches from hits to outs - my definition of "a few" is at least three and no more than 5 - after that I would have said several.

You're an American League fan, aren't you? Or, to put it to you differently, if your team can only win by hitting the long ball, perhaps they aren't that great a team now, are they? Or, from the other side, just because a team doesn't play for the HR doesn't mean they're a bad team. Afterall, a small ball team has won 2 of the last 3 MLB World Series.

And one more thing- what park was NC State playing in when they dropped 8 on UNC the other day? That was 8 runs on 11 hits and not a single HR in the bunch and then they have 1 run on 5 hits against UCLA, but you're right, it's all the park.
Keep talking shit. I hope your boys are enjoying their summer vacation.

And then there were 4 - NcSt heads home - OrSt needs to beat MsSt twice and UNC needs to do the same thing with UCLA.

Ball park doesn't matter. USC proved that winning in the last year of Rosenblatt and first year of TD with largely the same team.

MsSt is cheering for UNC tonight. I don't think they care who wins the series between the two (or they might) but I'm sure they want them to play two games to decide the UNC/UCLA series.

Glad to see the ACC flame out again in baseball. Trying to rearrange the travel schedule so I can be in a hotel to watch the game. Should be a great Cws finals.

This is one of those finals where I wish both teams could lose.
As far as the ACC flaming out once again, the conference learned from the best, their brothers at FSU wrote to the original book on Underachieving.
