From the Rose Bowl Stadium website:
The UCLA Bruins face off against the LSU Tigers at the Rose Bowl Stadium on September 4th, 2021 (time and broadcast network: TBD).
The Rose Bowl Stadium and UCLA Bruins are working closely with national and local health officials to determine the operations surrounding PAC 12 football games and the admittance of fans. We will be sure to provide updates as soon as available.

LOS ANGELES (WAFB) - If you plan on traveling to the Rose Bowl for LSU’s season opener on Sept. 4, masks will be required regardless of vaccination status. The L.A. Department of Health announced on Monday, August 16.
The order states that everyone attending outdoor events with more than 10,000 people will have to wear a mask “except when actively eating or drinking.”
The order goes into effect Thursday, August 19. The department of health stated “the mask can be removed briefly to eat or drink, and that it must be immediately put back on afterward.”
I guess if one has a cup of beer or other beverage in hand - a mask will not be required. A lot of people will have cups in their hands. And maybe one could have an empty cup in hand the whole game. Hmmmmmmm.

From Daily Advertiser:
LSU football fans are close to purchasing all 12,000 tickets of their allotment for the season opener against UCLA at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, according to the LSU ticket office.
And all who attend the game on Sept. 4 (7:30 p.m. CT, FOX) will have to wear a mask because of COVID-19, according to a mandate for all outdoor events with more than 10,000 people regardless of vaccination status, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said on Monday.
People can take their masks off only "when eating or drinking," the order says.
The 92,542-seat stadium, located 26 miles from UCLA's campus, is the Bruins' home field. Its status for the LSU game and for UCLA's opener against Hawaii on Aug. 28 remains at 100% capacity.

It's a 2:30 am kickoff here, unless things change, which completely sucks.

Any suggestions as to places to eat or drink in the Rose Bowl Stadium area?
We are staying in the Glendale area. Probably have a meal at the Smoke House Restaurant in Burbank.

My nephew goes to LSU, so I'm a closet fan. I think LSU is going to be a lot better this year but wildly inconsistent. I'm clueless about UCLA. Chip Kelly has had enough time to build something in Westwood.

Well, I enjoyed the in and out Burger. Ate along the parade route in Pasadena, but don't remember the name. I can give you the name of a Hotel NOT TO STAY IN, in Burbank. Enjoy the trip and game. Beautiful venue.

If you have an RV, I have an unused spot with hookups in Burbank through the end of the year.

Eight days until game time and five days until I fly out to San Diego. Starting to get ramped up. Sure looking forward to this trip. Seeing a game in the Rose Bowl is probably the dream of most college football fans. Too bad we have all the covid issues to deal with. But my way will be a cup in my hand the whole ballgame and not have to wear the required mask.
But most of my games I watched in Tiger Stadium over the years - I had a cup in my hand full of rum and coke or bourbon and coke.
Geaux Tigers.

Two all-beef, mustard-grilled patties, two slices of American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and a sauce they call “spread” instead of just admitting it's Thousand Island dressing, on a toasted bun.

And I still plan to be one of them along with five other family members. So we will pump a few dollars into the LA economy.

LSU announced yesterday that the football team was relocating to Houston, where they’ll remain until Thursday before departing for Los Angeles. The Tigers will practice at the Houston Texans facility in preparation for the season opener against UCLA, which remains scheduled for this coming Saturday at 7 p.m. CT.

UCLA will have a game under their belts when they play LSU. The Bruins defeated Hawaii 44 to 10 yesterday. It will be interesting to see how many Tigers will journey west to watch the game next weekend in Los Angles.

Tigers were on the bus ride over from Baton Rouge to Houston for 11 and a half hours. Normally about a 4 to 5 hour trip. Lot of people fleeing the storm - heading west on I-10.
My understanding - 3 practices this week at the Houston Texans facility and then head to Los Angeles on Thursday. Same day I am heading out for San Diego.
Darn I am some ready for some college football - Tiger style.
Geaux Tigers.

After the Bruins win in the first game - betting line has dropped from 4.5 to 3.5 in favor of LSU. We shall see.

LESS THAN FULL HOUSE
A 12:30 p.m. late August kickoff and students not reporting to UCLA's campus until later next month didn't translate to a huge crowd.
The game had an announced attendance of 32,982, which is the second-lowest for a UCLA game since the Bruins moved to the Rose Bowl in 1982. The record low remains 32,513 against Oregon State in 1992.

Our tickets are in section 17, Row 45 and seats 111-116. Tiger seating is in section 27. So we will be with Bruin fans on the UCLA side of the field. So we shouldn't be looking into the sunset.
Geaux Tigers. And my family will toast Tex with either wine or beer, except for my grandsons - theirs will have to be cold drinks.
