Astros claim American League West jumping the Rangers on the last day of season. Astros and Rangers end up tied at the top but the Astros hold the season series over the Rangers. And not only did they claim the title, but they get one of the two first round byes. And about 8 days ago, it looked the Stros would not ever make the playoffs as a wild card.
Sorry Daniel.

I would not be surprised to see the Braves miss the world series. Their pitching has been way too erratic the last month of the season. They may score 8 runs a game but can easily give up 9.

Pitching is the name of the game. Great pitching shuts down great hitting.

Twins broke an 18 game playoff losing streak yesterday. Watch out for them. They have a really good top 2 in the rotation and can still crush homers with the best of them.

The Rays went out very quietly And the smallest crowd in MLB Playoffs since 1919

Quick exit for the Rays, and yes the attendance was awful. Still amazes me that with their payroll, in that division, they have been extremely competitive for quite a run now. So every year when I hear the Pirates complain about unfair competitive balance in MLB…I look at the Rays and say I’d take that.

Man years ago my wife and I watched every game for several seasons of TX baseball....
Then Dish lost FOXSports SW.... the team lost Nolan, Houston rose up.... all the players left I knew....
Then when TTU 3rd baseman was drafted by them I started paying attention.
It’s amazing how not a single player from the old Hamilton, Young, Feliz, Napoli team are around. I only know Jung.

All 4 sweeps, 2 with the home team losing. And the mighty AL East is 0-4.

also, why wouldnt the braves (1 seed) be playing the diamondbacks (6 seed)
oh its because the MLB just changes matchups to get more viewers? cool cool

He’s a Dodgers fan and I’m a Phillies fan so we assumed they’d be playing each other this round. Do the Dbacks just assume the higher seed after knocking them off?

You would think MLB would welcome both, West Coast & East Coast time zones for viewership.

I think, but could be wrong, but the Dodgers were potentially facing the 3d division winner in Milwaukee and theoretically the Braves would be playing a wild card team, regardless of who won that series. Still, from a competition perspective, seems like the Braves should be playing the team that had to slightly lesser wild card standings. Not sure it matters, as I don't see how that Braves pitching staff is going to hold up against that Phillies lineup.

Stros getting Verlander back was huge. He pitched a good game tonight. And the long ball stroke has been regained.

What a comeback, what a play by Harris and Riley to end it What a game of inches. That last hit just missed being an extra base game tying hit by inches and Riley barely got the bat on tbe ball but got it out of the park. Crazy game. Great plays down the stretch for the Braves. This series just might go the distance.

Gallen froze Freeman with a breaking ball to end the 5th. Dodgers had 1st and 3rd, full count. And he froze him with a wicked off speed that was right down the middle.
