Just checked the live cam, while there is some TP in the trees, that could be from last night’s basketball game. They roll Toomers everytime Auburn wins a basketball game? Maybe Auburn was the reason for the great toilet paper crisis of 2020. There isn’t much TP in the trees so who knows. When I was there you only rolled Toomers when the football team won an away game. It wasn’t a thing for home games even.

And Saban is 72 - maybe he is starting to feel the age factor. That is when I really started feeling age - after my 70th one. And coaching is not an 8 hour day.
And he has the money to do about anything he wants to do.

I wonder how sure he is that he's financially secure enough to retire. Did he apply for Medicare before the new year?

I understand that folks in Ann Arbor are saying that Connor Stallions knew this 2 months ago.

freestar According to Thamel, names to watch include Oregon’s Dan Lanning, Washington’s Kalen DeBoer, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, Penn State’s James Franklin, Florida State’s Mike Norvell and Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman. Of course, every individual in that group is an active head coach. Please 6lb 8oz little squishy baby J, please take Franklin!! Please oh please!!!

Impressive list but who the hell would want to follow the G.O.A.T.? Whoever follows Saban will have a hot seat after losing 2 games in the regular season at Bama. I hate to admit this but I just turned on Finebaum on the SEC Network to watch the train wreck. I know coaches have huge egos, but following Saban is a loose/loose in my opinion. There is no way anyone is ever going to come close to matching what he accomplished. Whoever takes that job is going to be in trouble. That fan base has unrealistic expectations and nobody is going to be able to live up to them. Whoever it is will be in the hot seat on day one.

Smart is not going to Alabama to fill Saban's shoes, I can promise you all that! If he does, I will give the first person here $1000 to claim such!

No, it wouldn't be Smart. SI reporting that Dan Lanning is in Tuscaloosa right now. I suspect this is a done deal.

This didn’t just happen today. It was just announced today. UA has known for a few days at least. They will have a new coach by the end of the week.

201-29 in 17 years of coaching at Alabama. That is just stupidly insane!! I tip my cap, sir!! (I am trusting the math on this, as I have seen conflicting numbers in the win column.). Did Alabama ever have to forfeit any wins?

Alabama students were protesting against Dabo yesterday. Imagine what they would do with Stoops. Doesn't matter because after one loss next year, whoever takes the job will start having second thoughts.

I think Lanning, Kiffin, Sark...in that order.
Ray Perkins & Bill Curry took over after Bear, and barely made it 3 years. Stallings came in and won 1 ship but then they went on from there to go through 5 Corches in 10 yrs before Saban emphatically said he would not next Alabama Corch.
It's a risky move taking over for someone like Saban, Jimmy Johnson, Belichek, etc...

What coaches do you think would refuse the Bama job? Lots of them for the reasons others have outlined. Who wants to replace a legend and arguably the GOAT?

Taking the job might be suicide. Not taking it if offered could also have negative consequences.
