Smart is not going to Alabama to fill Saban's shoes, I can promise you all that! If he does, I will give the first person here $1000 to claim such! OK I'll bite, I claim that Smart will in fact go to Tuscaloosa. I don't think so either but I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to get in NCB's wallet.

Taking the job might be suicide. Not taking it if offered could also have negative consequences. All depends on the money offered and length of contract.

How about a contract like Jimbo got at A&M? It was called a retirement contract.

Do some of the other teams in the SEC benefit from Saban retiring?

Do some of the other teams in the SEC benefit from Saban retiring? Not really. Just LSU.

Deep down they even know they’re probably moving on from the next guy in a few years. They will go through coaches trying to replace Saban because the alumni won't accept anything else. That coaching job will suck for whoever takes it, in that position I would get a decent buy out because you can bet your short. It's going to be fun watching Bama desperately search for something that doesn't exist.

Anyone period because everyone will have to play them 2 out of every 4 years regardless of an 8 or 9 game schedule and some may have to play them every year.

I agree, I think the immediate beneficiary is Auburn. How long that last is solely dependent upon who's hired.
Lanning has already said no, word is that they reached out to Sark to feel his pulse and he's indicated he wants to stay at Texas.
Pls, 6'8" Baby Jesus, hire Dabo or Franklin.

Anyone from the East who would have to play them in the SECCG benefits Except we don’t have an East vs West SECCG anymore, just the 2 best records right?

I like our chances without Saban as their coach. Only one worst was the Bear himself and of course the old ball coach Spurrier.

Here is something to think about that people are not thinking about.
Since 2000 Auburn has hired 5 Head coaches. Since 2000 Nick Sabans replacement will be Alabama's 6th head coach. Saban had absolute control and kept boosters in-line. Boosters will now be running amock at Alabama wanting their "influence" and just because you havent seen them for 17 years dont mean they are not there.
1.No one is going to want to follow Nick Saban at Alabama. 2.People with $$$ for NIL are going to want influence at Alabama they havent had in 17 years 3.New and bandwagon Alabama fans are in for a ride they havent experienced before.
