Apparently Smart is headed to Athens immediately after the SEC CG. He will meet with UGA players.
He will spend next week working with UGA, creating staff and calling recruits. Once the blackout period starts a week from today, he will return to Tuscaloosa to begin preparation for the semi final game.

It is going to be curious to see if he is going to host the football banquet next Friday. Clearly Richt won't be there. And Greg McGarity better not be there unless he wants to create a scene.

I definitely have Kirby their front and center. Maybe you have some former players play host of the whole event. Hershel Walker, David Pollack and Hines Ward come to mind. Make it a true Gala and tie the past to the present with this hire. Does this news put your mind at ease BD, even the slightest?

A lot of players hate his guts right now. He might be as bad as McGarity. I have never opposed a change..as you know. I have been disgusted by how it took place. I have no confidence in the Athletic Director of the University of Georgia. And while I am ready to fully support Kirby, I find this fawning over a guy who took his alma mater for a ride just 4 years ago a bit silly. I hope he is awesome. He might very well be. But Georgia hardly shot for the stars. We took the easy way out. We took little risk. We overpaid a search firm. I am utterly dismayed by reduced expectations by Georgia fans on this board and especially across the nation. If we don't demand a results that as a bare minimum meet this year's record, why? This whole process is supposed to be making us at a higher level. If we were some crappy program (like the one Richt has inherited), I might buy more time. I don't.

Wonder why ADGM is still looking into Head Coaches right now? Just because? Hmmmm...As the world turns, UGA style.

A lot of nerves are on edge within the fan base, and all kind of crap is being flung around. Just think if it all hit the fan. Holy Shit! I am sure all will be answered toward the positive come Sunday, but as of now, rumors are popping up. That above piece was from the War Room, a "what we are hearing" type report that allows for hear say to be brought up, that isn't quite backed up with multiple sources.

He is a warrior on the field and in practice and seems like a really great guy. He is not an FBS QB. We could have used in many different ways that made more sense (TE, WR).

And frankly he shouldn't say anything until the contract is signed..or until his duties for this week are done. I have no issue with that. It is just the nature of this sport that transitions happen to happen at the most challenging time of year. Not unique to Bama or Georgia.

Be at ease Dawg fans. www.seccountry.com/alabama/alabamas-nick-saban-gets-emotional-while-discussing-kirby-smartATLANTA — If any doubt remained that Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart is leaving the team to become Georgia’s next head coach after this season, it disappeared when Nick Saban’s eyes watered up on Friday afternoon.
Saban, who declared on Wednesday that he would no longer answer Smart-related questions, answered two more on the eve of the SEC championship game. “We’ve worked together for a long, long time,” he said before pausing for several seconds to collect himself. “He’s as good of an assistant coach and as loyal of an assistant coach as I’ve ever had on my staff.” The room noticed Saban’s voice was catching and his eyes were welling up. “It sounds like it’s bringing up some emotion,” one reporter said. “Can you talk about your relationship with him and what brings up that emotion?” Saban relented. “People that work together on staff for a long time, it’s like part of your family,” he said. “We’re kind of bigamist as coaches. We’re married. We have families. But we’re also married to our job. “You have a family there, too. So you do develop relationships and you do care about these people and you care about their families. You care about their well-being. You understand their goals and aspirations.” Saban did not directly admit that Smart — who’s coached at Alabama since 2007 — is headed to Georgia, but he closed the topic with something close to an admission. “I’m always happy to see anyone on our staff who’s done a great job for us get the opportunity that they’ve worked so hard for,” he said.

Follow Ryan CodyVerified account @ryancodywhnt Never seen Nick Saban get so emotional at a press conference . It's obvious the Kirby Smart questions are tough. Well its his own damn fault. If he hadn't been so mean during his last visit to Sanford Stadium he might be keeping Kirby.
